Canadian Cop Gets Nailed for Street Racing
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
Street racing is a strong crime for a police officer, but in Canada, any traffic violation involving 50 kph (31 mph) over the speed limit brings the charge of street racing. That law went into place in 2007, and more than 15,000 people have been charged with street racing since then. In this case, an Ontario Provincial Police office was reportedly going 157 kph (97 mph) in an 80 kph (55 mph) zone when he ran a stop sign and crashed. He was on duty, but not on a call. Surprisingly, the officer remains on duty but can’t drive for 7 days. Read the full story at The Windsor Star.

Cop Dumps Bike During Agility Competition
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
I’ve always thought it’d be fun to be a motorcycle cop. What could be more fun than ripping through traffic with everyone getting out of your way? It’d be like a dream! Of course, the other side of the coin is that I’ve never been able to talk my way out of a ticket from one of these officers, so I’m not particularly fond of seeing them on patrol. Anyway, I was equally impressed and amused by this clip of a cop dumping his bike during an agility competition. You have to have serious skills to whip one of those behemoths around the way he’s doing it in this video, and as for watching him take a itty-bitty spill? Well…

He Fought the Law: Totally Wicked Police Chase!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
Ok, police chase videos are a dime a dozen—but this one is outstanding! If I had to guess, I’d say the car is hot, because since the officer had plenty of time to get the plate number, it’s not like the driver is going to get away with this stunt. Initially, the Stealth gets a good lead, and it’s tough to even see it in the frame. But as the chase goes on, the cop catches up, and the measures the driver takes to flee get more desperate. When he goes through the intersection? Yikes! I’m not going to spoil the ending, other than to say you can see the crash.

Biker Runs Red Light, T-Bones Cop
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
In the Freshman, there’s a great scene where Matthew Broderick says; “there’s a certain freedom to being completely screwed.” But far more often than not, there’s no benefit to being completely screwed, and that goes double if you’ve just blown a red light and t-boned a police cruiser with you motorcycle. Ouch. All this guy can be thankful for is the fact he’s going to walk into the slammer under his own power, instead of being rolled in on a gurney. In all seriousness though, I’m always amazed when bikers collide with cars and escape unscathed. I’ve had several friends who’ve been involved in car vs. motorcycle incidents, and none were in any condition to ride for weeks—and sometimes months—afterward.
