ViperVette
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
Knowing how serious Viper owners and Corvette owners get when challenging each other to the title of Ultimate American Sports Car Ever, I probably shouldn’t step right into the middle of it by highlighting this Viper-bodied 1986 Corvette for sale on Hemmings.com. But I’m a sucker for punishment, so here it is. I can imagine the taunts from either side now: “The only way to make a Corvette look good is to rebody it as a Viper!” “The only way to make a Viper run good is to power it with a Corvette engine!” From the seller’s description:
This is a combination 1986 Corvette frame, engine and dash, combined with a 2000 Dodge Viper body. Thus, a VIPERVETTE. The engine is 5.7 liter with a 4 speed manual transmission. The exterior is all Viper and the interior, although color coded Dodge Viper red and black leather, it has Corvette seats and interior. Options on this car include P/S, P/B, P/W, Power Mirrors, Power Antenna, Power Seats, Tilt Wheel, Top Off Feature, Power Trunk and AM/FM stereo with CD changer mounted in the trunk.

Retroman Gets Quoted in Hot Rod
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Our commenting system has been kind of jacked up here for, well, a while now. Don’t worry, we have a real fix this time, but it’s part of a larger, top secret project–just give us another week or so and all will be revealed. But we do appreciate those of you who manage to jump through all the various hoops necessary to comment on the blog, and we do read your comments. And it seems like other people read them, too. Like David Freiburger, Editor-in-Chief at Hot Rod Magazine. I opened up my November issue of Hot Rod last night (it’s November already?), skipped to Freiburger’s column, and there it was, in black in white: Retroman’s comment on Hot Rod’s Corvette hack. “Ok, so I understand that the C4 is like the Mustang II of Corvettes… It was the right car for the time, but hardly anyone wants one now. But, still… It’s a Vette, dude.” Well put, Retroman! If you missed it the first time around, here’s the Hot Rod video he was commenting on. And you can see the full version here.
Fail: Corvette Crashes Into Ocean
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
This is by far the biggest Corvette fail of the year. The driver was apparently trying to skimboard his C6 Corvette, only to result in salty failure. If you love the Corvette like me, this video is going to hurt. See more exciting Corvette action at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

Corvette Z06 Reaches 216 MPH on the Autobahn
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
In one of the most glorious and magnificent top speed films of the Corvette Z06 I have ever seen. We get to ride along with this Corvette owner as he pulls 216 miles per hour while driving downhill on the Autobahn. Who said that cars couldn’t fly? Check out more Corvette fun at Tampa Sports Car Examiner!

Fastest Text Message Ever!
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
Sending text messages while driving is incredibly dangerous, but sending them at 160 mph during a WOT pull is borderline insanity. Thanks to the stability of the C6 Corvette Z06 no one was hurt, but it could have turned ugly in a split second. Think before you text, especially at 160 miles per hour! Ultra Rare Baldwin Motion 1971 Phase III GT Corvette Found and Restored
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
Simply hearing or seeing the words, “Baldwin-Motion” makes our little gearhead heart start to run faster, but when we were informed that the very last Phase III GT Corvette ever built by Motion was found, restored, and will be making a public debate soon, our ticker found another gear. There were only 12 GTs produced between 1969 and 1971, making them the most rare, raucous and revered cars ever to roll from the shop of Joel Rosen. These babies were certified man-eaters that had both the unique look that Rosen envisioned and a level of horsepower that did not exist in more than a handful of cars in the country at the time they were built.
The last Pase III GT was purchased by a doctor named Henry Rollings in 1971 who was a certified gearhead nut. He flew old war planes and was a noted road racer, and once he took a ride in a Phase III GT Corvette, he signed on to have one built. The day he picked up the car, he promptly drove it all the way to Georgia, 500 hp big block and A/C blowing the whole way! Current owner Adam Tuckman purchased it from the good doctor’s family in 2008. Continue reading at BangShift.com

Drift Office On My Birthday
Bick66
Tuesday was my big 3-0, and the guys at Drift Office in Auburn were kind enough to get me in in the morning for a few happy-birthday dyno pulls in my Corvette. As always, Drift Office had a ton of cool projects in the works, including a 350Z that they don’t know what they’re going to do with yet, and the front half of a JDM Lexus they had shipped in from Japan as a parts donor. As for the ‘Vette, it didn’t do all that great, having actually lost a few horsepower as a result the reduced back-pressure provided by my new Flowmasters. It looks like it’s time to call in Corvette expert Vince from Trifecta Performance for a refresh tune to help get the car all sorted out again. I’ll keep you posted.

Corvette Tow Package
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
Who knew that the late-model Corvette was capable of being a certified hauler? With a simple bolt-on hitch, this C5 is capable of towing a small to medium-sized load like the following tire and tool set. But how would the ‘Vette hold up under a heavier load, like a camper or car-hauler? Read more at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

What Did You Do This Weekend?
Bick66
I decided to spend my weekend in the driveway. It started Friday after work when I installed new axle-back exhaust with Flowmaster American Thunder mufflers on the Corvette. On Saturday, the Impala got a new starter and battery–two of the few wear parts not replaced last year. Back to the Corvette on Sunday, I changed the oil then removed all four wheels so I could clean the wheel wells and insides of the wheels. And the new exhaust sounds sweet–not bad for 340 bucks shipped, plus $0 for installation!
How about you? What did you do this weekend?
