Corvette Nomad Kit Car
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
What’s with the irrepressible impulse to dream up wagon versions of the Corvette? There’ve been concept Corvette wagons as long as there’ve been Corvettes, and while most of them end up being hideous franken-wagons, this longroof C1 looks like it was truly meant to be. That’s because it’s modeled upon the original Motorama Corvette Nomad that Chevy showed off at Detroit in 1954. This updated version, by Superior 54, has a custom Art Morrison frame and C5 Corvette suspension front and rear. But I read through the ad twice and couldn’t find any mention of an engine. Come on, at $195K for the turn-key version, they better at least be throwing in an LS1. Via duPont Registry.

Cars and Coffee Corvette Attempts Curbside Homicide
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
Trying to drift the corner and show off for the Cars and Coffee audience, this C6 Corvette nearly pins a few bystanders to the wall. Not only did he destroy his reputation, he soiled a few pairs of pants and then didn’t even stick around to pay for the dry cleaning! Read more about the crazy C6 at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

Rice or Nice? Custom 1975 Corvette
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
This Corvette walks the line between unique and odd. The most noticeable features of this car are the static light conversion to the front end, and the red hot flames against the bright yellow paint job. But maybe that’s a face that only a mother could love. What do you think, is this rice or nice? Read more at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

Again, Something Terrible Has Happened to A Corvette
By Jen Dunnaway

Yes, we’ve seen some bizarre and delusional things done to Corvettes. And at first glance, I thought this ultra-patriotic C4 was another one to throw on that sad pile. But wait: take a closer look, and you’ll see that that’s not a Corvette. Unfortunately, there weren’t any other pics at ThatWillBuffOut, where the camera-phone image appeared. So what’s the car that the unfortunate ‘Vette’s tail is grafted onto?

200 MPH In A Corvette Over The Tampa Bay Bridge
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
In Tampa, there is a huge bridge called the Howard Frankland. It’s 16,000 feet long, 70 feet wide, and goes across the bay–perfect for illegal street racing, and the cops know it. And if the hoonage persists, a preemptive seize-and-crush policy similar to Canada’s may one day be on the books at the national level. What are your suggestions for a cure? Great News: Stolen Corvette and Camaro Returned
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
When we brought you news last week of the Miner family’s two stolen cars, the response was nearly overwhelming, with much of the country going on immediate lookout for the 1966 Corvette convertible and 1969 Camaro SS clone. As it turns out, the two Chevrolets didn’t get very far before both were recovered and returned to Erik Miner’s father, but we imagine it was the readiness of the Hemmings Nation army to see the cars home safe and sound that kept the thieves from parting the cars out or shipping them overseas. From the owner’s email:
“While we don’t have many details at this time, the Corvette was located at a remote location in the woods with the only access through a farm gate and through a hay field.
Ken has not been able to inspect the Corvette in detail, as the police have not processed the car. On first impression there appears to be limited damage. The Camaro is another story…”

Photo of the Day
By Jen Dunnaway

I know it’s kind of lazy to mine your own vacation pics for Photo of the Day. But hey, I’m on vacation, I haven’t been on the internet for like a week and a half, and I wanted to share with y’all this one Chris snapped from the ‘Vette while we were driving with the top down on LA’s 101 freeway into Hollywood. Is traffic there as bad as everyone says it is? Sometimes, yeah. But at least there’s a lot of pretty stuff to look at.

Summer Road Trip: It’s About Time!
Bick66
Now that summer is in full swing, many of us are hitting the road to enjoy the fantastic array of open highways that North America has to offer. One of the most amazing stretches of road in the world is the system of highways that wind and twist their way along the West Coast of Washington, Oregon and California. Jen and I are packing up the Corvette and leaving tonight for 10 days of Pacific Coast cruising, junkyard tourism, and SoCal beach bumming. How about you? Any road trip plans still ahead at this point in the summer?
