Countach Beats the 512 Boxer on CarDomain

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

I guess this shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, but the 1987 Lamborghini Countach handily beat the 1984 Ferrari 512 BBi in this week’s eBay Motors Showdown. I really admire the Countach, but for a car to own and drive, I would definitely go with the Boxer, which is one of my favorite Ferraris of all time. Stay tuned for another match up next week, and if you have any suggestions for future eBay Motors Showdowns, please leave them in the comments below!

512 Boxer vs. Countach: Which Would You Choose?

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

For this week’s eBay Motors Showdown, I present you with two cars that dominated magazine covers when I was a kid. This 1984 Ferrari 512 BBi looks to be a nice red/black example from the last year of production. And this 1987 Lamborghini Countach was a special order car for Mario Andretti. Which would you choose?

Lamborghini Museum: Part One

Car Culture At Large

What better way to open this “Exotics & Luxury” themed month with a detailed view at one of Italy’s most evocative manufacturers. I am of course referring to Lamborghini, a latecomer into the world of supercars with its founder Ferruccio Lamborghini producing his very first car, the 350GT above, in 1964. Lamborghini was a successful businessman who made his wealth building tractors. He quickly began enjoying sports cars of the era, including some Ferraris, one of which was a 250GT. After a recurring clutch problem with his 250GT he took his complaints directly to Enzo Ferrari, who was only twenty minutes down the road in Maranello. Enzo refused to take his complaints seriously, dismissing him as a simple tractor builder. It was at this point that Mr. Lamborghini decided to take matters into his own hands and show the world (especially Enzo himself) that he could build a superior car. He assembled a team of great engineers including Gianpaolo Dallara, designed and built a V12 engine and created his first car. The rest, as the cliché goes, is history. Amoco Ultimate Favorite: Countach Kit

By Rob Einaudi

BP

I’ve noticed quite a few Lambo pics uploaded to the Amoco Ultimate Your Car Is Worth It Photo Contest, but somehow I’m doubting that most were uploaded by their actual owners. This one (entry # 1487) is definitely legit—though it’s a kit. Still, I think it’s pretty cool. But then I had a Countach poster in my room in the 80s, too.

When I was growing up in the 80′s The lamborghini Countach was a poster that could be found on the walls of most teenage boys rooms. The car was an Icon and an image that said you had reached the top. At that age it was just a dream, Now at the age of 42 I finaly have the car. Well sort of .. I bought this custom built exotic because of the looks and because its powered by an American 1967corvette 327 V-8 . And I take very good care of it and that means only putting the best gas in it. There are still more chances to win, so if you haven’t already thrown your hat into the ring, make sure to enter the Amoco Ultimate Your Car Is Worth It Photo Contest!

SoundDomain Sound-Off for 02.19.08

Ever wonder what life would be like without music? I’ve wondered it, but I don’t think I’d ever want to experience it. Music is one of the reasons I got into the Mobile Electronics industry. The gadgets and the cool devices that help make the music in my car and life are only secondary, but they make my job and hobby that much more exciting. I know nothing really beats the sound of a finely tuned engine, but nothing compliments it better than a finely tuned car stereo system. And if I couldn’t listen to music, well, then I guess I’d just hop over to SoundDomain and catch up on the news!

  • High-end home audio manufacturer Naim has announced it will provide the audio systems for future Bentley vehicles. Produced under the moniker "naim for Bentley", the system will belt out 1100 watts of pure audiophile power to 15 speakers. How much does the Naim system add to the bottom line of a Bentley? Well, as the saying goes – if you have to ask….
  • If you’ve got an old school muscle car or classic cruiser in your garage and you’ve considered upgrading the radio and audio system, your options are pretty slim. Fortunately there are companies like RetroSound that offer the latest technology in a radio package designed to look factory in your retro-rod. USB, MP3, CD Changer controls, multi-color LCD… Get all the modern luxuries in a classic package.
  • Blast from the past… Back in the good ‘ol days of Car Audio, Alpine and the Lambo Countach were one of the most recognized symbols in the industry (Alpine still is for that matter). I was digging around the net and stumbled on some oldie-but-goodie shots of this classic car stereo icon.
  • Our man "Crazy Like a" Brian Fox is at it again… This time he’s creating a work of art to be showcased at Nissan’s booth at the New York International Auto Show this March. His new project is another Nissan Altima Coupe that will sport the new Fox Marketing 6-piece body kit, 19" Work wheels, and a bad-ass Rockford Fosgate stereo system.

Lamborghini Countach vs. Ferrari F430!

By John

Editor

When we asked blog readers whether they’d rather have a Gallardo or an F430, the Ferrari won by a mile. One of the guys who commented put it this way; "Lambos are for boys and rap stars, Ferraris are for car enthusiasts." And to be honest, as much as I love Lambos, I kind of agree with that statement. Ferrari has an amazing racing pedigree, and Lambo, well, doesn’t. So that’s what I was a little surprised by this video. You’d think that in a straight-up drag, a modern Ferrari would totally smoke a Lambo 15 years its senior, but in this video, it looks pretty close.
