Photo of the Day

Today just felt like a two-CRX kind of day, and this pic from a night photo shoot of Jay’s buddy’s stunning first-gen was too good to pass up. See more at Jay’s ride page.

Mall Parking Lot Find Number 2: Ultra-Clean CRX

The way out of the Sears lot did not disappoint, either. Pictures don’t do justice to this unmolested CRX HF. When’s the last time you saw a clean, stock CRX?

Tuners
Grassroots Motorsports
Everyone needs a good tuner. Oh, sure, we can all read an air-fuel gauge, but at some point it’s nice to work with an expert. That’s where Ed Senf comes in. He tunes Grand-Am and World Challenge cars, but every now and then he’ll come down to our level. He recently worked his magic and added a Hondata to my B16A-powered CRX. Guess what? It now pulls like a freight train.

CRX Goes Kaboom in Puerto Rico!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
After hearing a big-ass boom and watching his hood fly up, the driver of this CRX had to be expecting some serious carnage in the engine bay. But this level of devastation? Given that he couldn’t see his little Honda’s massive parts hurl, that had to come as kind of a shock. The clip below is better quality and shows multiple angles along with the aftermath, but I think this version has a better shot of the actual detonation.

The Record Breaking CRX
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
Our beloved CRX was just inducted into the NHRA museum and it is quite an honor. Thank you to Tony Thacker and the NHRA for recognizing our efforts in Sport Compact Drag Racing. Tony Thacker created a display in the west wing of the museum entitled “The Two Brothers Exhibit”. There is another two-brother racecar right next to the CRX from the 40’s and 50’s that did innovative things with a racecar in the salt-flats.
I think the people who visit the exhibit will ask the same question over and over. “Why are there fat tires up front?” I think the CRX is the only front wheel drive car in the museum. “Those crazy kids draggin backwards.” The Sport Compact Drag circuit was built on individuality. We didn’t want to do what the domestics did but do something entirely different. Continue reading at Speedhunters

SoCal Hondas Swarm Norm Reeves
Antonio Alvendia
Two weekends ago, my friend Scott Toshima invited me to come out to a meet he was hosting at Norm Reeves Honda, off the 605 freeway in Cerritos CA. I’ve never owned a Honda in my life, so I never had a reason to go there previously, but I was definitely down to support whatever function Scott was throwing… plus, he said that several of the best offset Hondas in Southern Cali would be attending.
Well, Scott wasn’t lying. I was honestly quite impressed with the level of the cars that came out to this gathering, which wasn’t even a major carshow or anything; it was just a simple Honda meet in the parking lot of a local dealer! Even though it wasn’t some sort of big event like Import Showoff or something like that, the H crowd showed up strong to show off their new wheels!
That’s right, I said wheels! It seems that there are more and more Honda owners catching on and joining the low offset/stretched tire movement, and I think that’s a good thing. Sure, there are a lot of people who hate on this new trend in the Honda scene, saying that it makes no sense to stretch the tires and camber the rear wheels on a Front Engine, Front Wheel Drive car… but hey, Volkswagen guys have been doing it for years, and their cars are FF too! Heading Back to the Track
Grassroots Motorsports
All work and no play makes David a dull boy, and soon I’m heading to a NASA track event. Ever wanted to get on track but didn’t know the first step to take? Their HPDE program is a fantastic way to get involved. Plus it’s fun, too. You can learn more about my low-buck track car at Grassroots Motorsports
