Photo of the Day

I think it’s a very poetic shot, especially for a die-cast. From DMC’s Facebook page, where there appears to be a discussion in progress about whether any of the three actual gold-plated DeLoreans in existence came with the brown interior.

Yep, it’s DeLorean wine. As one of the commenters on the pic at DMC’s Facebook page said, “that’s the classiest DWI I ever seen.”

A Peek Inside The Texas DeLorean Facility

By Jen Dunnaway

Culturemap is running a lovely photo essay on the DMC headquarters in Houson, where DeLoreans from around the country are maintained and refurbished, and where “new” DeLoreans are assembled from the NOS and reproduction parts and panels that are stockpiled there. Hit the jump for the pics, and view the full article here.

John DeLorean’s Grave Site

By Jen Dunnaway

John Z. DeLorean is interred at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery in Troy, Michigan. Wow: kind of gets you thinking about what car you might want on your own headstone, doesn’t it? R.I.P. Via Facebook.

Just… Not… Right

By Jen Dunnaway

The spectacle of this Gulf Racing livery DeLorean, at the very least, settles one thing: this iconic paint scheme, which I’d briefly considered, will not work on my diesel Escort. In fact, the only car I’ve every really thought the garish Sunny-D-and-baby-blue warpaint looks right on is the Ford GT40. Mercifully, the color scheme is actually a vinyl wrap, which could presumably be peeled off and the original bare stainless steel cleaned up. And the DeLorean is currently for sale on eBay. Take a look!

DeLoreans At the Drive-In

By Jen Dunnaway

It’s awesome that it’s drive-in movie theater season again–there’s nothing like watching a fun flick under the stars while getting some quality time in with your ride. When the local DeLorean club in Houston found out that Back To The Future was screening at their local drive-in, it didn’t take much to round up a few gull-wings and make a night of it. See more pics on DeLorean Motor Company’s Facebook page. And to locate a drive-in theater in your area, go here and enter your zip code–a handful of these historic venues still exist, and they deserve our support.

Twin-Engined De Lorean on eBay, Minus An Engine

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

I have witnessed some bizarre and ambitious De Lorean engine swaps attempted in my day, but this one is just looney-tunes. With its colossally mismatched powerplants front and back, this De Lorean is theoretically four-wheel drive–with a Honda 2.0L powering the front wheels and a monstrous 8.2L Cadillac V8 spinning the rears, and some kind of electronic govern-ator carrying out the delicate mediation between the two.  Curiously, the seller is offering this creation without the Cadillac motor, so what you’re really getting is a massively effed-with DeLorean with front wheel drive, a four-banger, and cosmetic and accessory issues numerous enough to make even the most dedicated tinkerer weep. Hmm–deal? Check out the auction, including baffling views of both engine compartments, here!

Fireball Kicks it at the RCX Show

By Fireball Tim

Wow, what a great show! The energy was incredible and we had a blast with over 20,000 people attending!! The show turnout was far greater than expected, with huge numbers of kids, parents, vendors and super cool cars!

Big thanks to all those that made it such a great show. Brian from RCX, Paul Nigh and his Back to the Future Delorean, SportChassis Trucks, Bryn Faulkner and his awesome Tattoos. I even got to shoot it with Superstar San Diego Linebacker, Kevin Burnett.

Wups. Spent a little too much on diecast. Oh, well…. Check out the highlights ON MY BLOG!!
