Wrecks From The 2010 Saudi Drift Season

By Michael Berenis

Tampa Sports Car Examiner

Saudi drift generally involves fishtailing a car violently back and forth at a high rate of speed, almost invariably on public roads. Those who that pull it off typically end with a 360 or 720 spin into the winners’ circle. Those who fail typically end up combining themselves with their low-budget sedans. Nissan 350z Hoonage

By Michael Berenis

Tampa Sports Car Examiner

Drifting is loud, smelly, creates a load of smoke, and to top things off it etches your semi-permanent autograph into the streets! Probably best to do it on a closed course next time… Read more about the 350z hoonage at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

Saudi Drifter Crashes Into Semi

By Michael Berenis

Tampa Sports Car Examiner

Look at that tire fly at 0:10! Performing the dangerous Saudi drift driving technique on the interstate, this drifter took the corner a little too sharp and ended up clipping the trailer of the semi. The rest of the drifting world better watch out for SA because these guys have no fear. Read more about Saudi drifting at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

Falken Sweeps The Podium In Vegas

By Speedhunters

Car Culture At Large

Last year in New Jersey, Falken Tire swept the podium for the first time ever at a Formula Drift event. Tonight in Vegas, the teal and blue repeated that feat, led by Tyler McQuarrie in his drop-top Z. Tyler took the win on a hot night in Vegas while Dai Yoshihara and Vaughn Gittin Jr. took second and third respectively, with the battle for the championship getting hotter by the minute. We’ve got plenty of coverage on the way, but for now big congrats go to Tyler, Dai, Vaughn and everyone at Team Falken.

BDC Team Drift Weekend

By Speedhunters

Car Culture At Large

During the long summer break between BDC Round 4 and the Knockhill final, BDC hosts a weekend event at the excellent Norfolk arena. The weekend consists of a full day of practice on the Friday followed by a non-championship competition which runs late into Saturday night. The highlight of the weekend is a team drift competition which takes place on the Sunday. The tight confines of the Norfolk track always produce spectacular battles, with no pressure of points and championship tables the BDC weekender is a highlight of the drift calender. Take a look, we’ve got a ton of fantastic pics at Speeedhunters.

Drift on the Beach!

By Karan Singh

StreetFire.net

Every once in a while I get an inclination to go to the beach like the guys in this video. The only difference is that I can’t drive my car out onto the sands of Santa Monica and drift around like the Subarus and Evos in this video! They must be at a dog beach though because there are entirely too many dogs running around!

Sketchy Street Drifting

By Karan Singh

StreetFire.net

Where would you go if you wanted to work on your drift technique? Well, if you were these guys, you’d find the most crowded public road in your neighborhood and practice amongst the locals. Not sure about the traffic laws in the country where this video was filmed, but I’m glad people can’t get away with this here!

The Smoky Fox

By Speedhunters

Car Culture At Large

As the world drift press is full of Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s Monster Mustang, I thought it might be a cool idea to look at a slightly different drift ‘stang. This is Yves Faber’s idea of a drift machine, who hails from Luxembourg. You might remember a video I posted a while ago of this car on a hill climb track in Luxembourg. The motor is a 6.1L Ford V8 breathed on by a company called Redline. It pushes out around 450 ponies and a little over 700Nm of torque, enough to propel the 1300kg fox very very sideways.

Video: Formula Drifters Tear up Hollywood Blvd

By John Naderi

StreetFire.net

Tonight Hollywood Blvd went up in smoke. No, it wasn’t the premier of the long awaited remake to the Cheech and Chong Classic (see: Express, Pineapple). The smoke enveloping the touristy Hollywood and Highland area was of the spent tire variety from the likes of BFGoodrich, Falken and Nitto. And it was all part of a drift demo produced by Formula Drift. Hit the jump to see how and why FD scorched the Walk of Fame plus some quick videos from the event.
