Duster Beats the Nova on CarDomain
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Our second eBay Motors Showdown went to the 1973 Duster 340 by a pretty wide margin. It’s interesting to note that the Duster only got bid up to $13,600 before the auction ended, well shy of the $16,5000 reserve. The 1972 Nova sold for $14,500. Have any ideas for next week’s match up? Post them in the comments below!

Nova vs. Duster: Which Would You Choose?
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Duster owners always hate it when people say, “Nice Nova!” so I thought I’d put the two together in this week’s eBay Motors Showdown. Originally my plan to was to look for beaters, but then I found two nice “survivors”—yes, an overused term, but I think it applies fairly well to these examples. The 1972 Nova is not really an SS, and it’s unclear whether it’s wearing original paint, but it does seem to be quite clean and original. The 1973 Duster 340 seems to be a very original and well-documented one owner car. Auctions are ending very soon (and may be done by the time many of you see this blog post) and it’s unclear if either will make the reserve, but they seem to be priced pretty close. Anyway, click the links to the two auctions above and then let us know—which would you choose?

Emilio's Duster at Englishtown
By Rob Einaudi

I just realized that I hadn’t written anything about Emilio’s Duster this season. So I just checked his ride pageand saw that he ticked off a string of 9.68s at Englishtown in May. Check out the video below, and if you’re interested, here’s the longer uncut version with less music and more engine sounds.

The WRX Murders the MAZDASPEED3 on CarDomain
By Rob Einaudi

Owing to a small glitch with our photos, the EV Duster made an appearance in this week’s Showroom Showdown. It actually held the lead in the voting for a short period, but then the WRX took over, and it was all Subaru for the rest of the contest. Subaru had a bunch of boring pics on their site, so I decided to use this pic of Vivid Racing’s WRX. Pretty hot.

The EV Duster Hits the Road!
By Rob Einaudi

I just got word from Bruce that his EV Duster is now running and driving! He hasn’t quite sorted out all the kinks yet, but still, it’s pretty impressive to see an old A-body running on electricity while maintaining that tough muscle car stance. Be sure to check out his ride page, and you can also read his blog for more details. Bruce is promising video soon, so stay tuned!

By Rob Einaudi

Jason Heintz just put together a three-part series on his brother-in-law Emilio’s 2008 season. It includes their Pinks All Out win, 1320x Lebanon Valley Dragway and Mopars At The Patch Event at Island Dragway. Oh, and some great tunes, too! We’ll be following the 9SecondDuster again in 2009, too, so stay tuned!

Temporary Setback for the EV Duster
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
I was just checking out Bruce’s EV Duster blog and it looks like his motor controller blew up recently, causing a small fire under the hood. Luckily there was no real damage to the car or other components, but still, it sucks. If you haven’t already, check out the EV Duster ride page! Can’t wait to see this car done!

Chopped Duster on eBay
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Apparently Chrysler gave this car to sponsored drag racer Bill Stiles in 1971 as a parts car, and it got chopped up and painted like you see here shortly thereafter. It’s been owned by Mopar man/racer John Baughmans for many years, and has been in the car corral at Carlisle. Anyway, I love it. More pics after the jump. Via eBay
