The Team Edlinger E30
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
Last week, Jeroen, gave us a quick spotlight into the Team Edlinger E30. It’s hard to tell from the photos alone that the car is more than just a race car but more of a drooling, snarling, fire breathing beast. So, to follow up with that spotlight, here’s a video of the car hauling all sorts of behind while on its 2nd race. Turn up those speakers because this car sings!
Any race car that sparks like this E30 is a winner in my book.

The Best Gran Turismo Rig Ever – BMW E30 M3
By Ben Schaffer
The Real JDM
This is by far the best Gran Turismo game rig ever. Actually it was already one of my favorite E30 M3 BMWs before I even saw the front of it and realized that it is being used to play video games in! Garage Studie is responsible for this masterpiece. I have a feeling I’m going to need to stop by there during an upcoming trip to Japan. See the full Studie shop tour post here.

E30s at H20 After Hours
Antonio Alvendia
Recently my buddy Dave Mucci made the trip from Chicago to Ocean City, MD, all for the love of automobiles! I figured it’d be pretty whack of me to write an article about H20 International since I’ve yet to go myself, so I asked the man, the myth, my buddy Mooch, to provide some guest commentary. Some of you may be familiar with Dave’s work in 0-60 Magazine, doing detailed engine illustrations. The kid is one hell of an artist, but he isn’t a writer by trade and I’m not much of a grammatical genius so bear with us. Hopefully you will be too engaged with the dope photos to give a crap. For the photography, Dave enlisted the help of Patrick Mizenko who took tons of killer photos. Thanks again to you both!!!
Enough rambling – on to the story!! Continue reading and view more photos on MotorMavens!

If I Had More Parking Spaces…
By Ben Schaffer
The Real JDM
I would totally buy an E30 M3.
I’ve always loved these and they just keep getting better with age. As BMW’s get more and more advanced with technology power and weight, there is something really nice about the rawness of the E30 M3. Although the E92 M3 definitely went the right direction and became a more focused drivers car than the E46, I don’t think we’ll ever see a sub 3,000 pound M3 again.
The E30 happens to be around 2,700 pounds which is equivalent to the S2000, which I also love as one of the purest drivers cars produced. Between the legendary handling of the E30, the lightweight design and the timeless blister fender design from the factory, I think the E30 M3 will always be a classic.

Franken M3 Gets Fiske Wheels and Mini Tubs
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
The Piper Motorsports guys have recently updated their e30 M3 ride page. This monster is coming along nicely (if you remember our post last October, this car is getting a V10 out of an M5). Latest improvements include mini tubs front and rear and custom Fiske wheels. The photo below shows the new OEM wide fenders which were modified and re-installed with a slight bulge to allow for additional wheel clearance. Apparently the car will soon be ready for the body shop to be seam sealed and primered. Can’t wait to see how this turns out!

UTCC Contender: Turbo BMW 318 Club Race Car
By Rob Einaudi

e30 Bimmers are all the rage with the GRM crowd these days, and I’m beginning to see why. I got a ride in a spec e30 car at VIR last year, and they can definitely be made into fun little track cars without a huge investment. It looks like Robert has built himself a pretty cool one–with turbo power:
We believe this is the only 4 cylinder turbo being raced in BMW CCA Club Racing, and it was built by two complete amateurs, in my garage. All the rage in the BMW community has been to add Euro parts, and if engine swaps were done it was to add cylinders not remove them. Regardless of that fact, we pulled our 6 cylinder and built a turbo DOHC 4 cylinder.
I really liked this shot of Robert’s garage, and yep, those are operating room lights. Be sure to click through to his ride page, which has lots of great photos and more details on the build. Robert is really hoping to be invited to the Ultimate Track Car Challenge at Buttonwillow in June, and I’m hoping to see him and his car out there.

M3 Ryan Follows His Dreams
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Ever wanted to just quit your job, sell all your crap and go set up shop somewhere else? Well, M3 Ryan over at e30tech.com did just that:
I quit my job at the dealership, bought 2 acres if land and moved to Auburn. I got myself a new (’07 model, year-end closeout) 28′ International CCD Airstream. I am living in it full time now as I build my shop/business. I will eventually build my dream home on the property aswell, but that is a few years away right now. I am starting my own BMW repair business and doing custom work aswell. Shop should be up and running by April 1st if everything goes as planned.
Good luck, Ryan! You can see the rest of the pics (including his forklift, deck and hot tub) at e30tech.com.

God Weighs In on The Fast and the Furious 4
By Jen
Editor
Discussion of the recent casting call for The Fast and the Furious 4 has blown up since we sent out our newsletter yesterday, and now, even The Big Guy Himself is sounding off about what car should be featured in the new movie. God’s pick, it turns out, is His personal E30. Saith the Lord,
I will send my one and only car to this movie in hopes to save it, as I have sent my one and only Son to try and save you. An E30… because God’s Car is an E30 and there is no other like it.
We’re not about to argue, since a lightning strike on CarDomain Headquarters would clearly wreak havoc on our servers. Read the rest of the Holy Comment here, and if you live in LA, don’t forget to check out Rich King Casting to submit your own ride for consideration!

8 From The 80s: BMW E30
By Rob
Editor-in-Chief
I didn’t like the E30 3-series when it came out in 1984. My dad had owned a 1600 (the predecessor to the 2002) and I thought the E30 looked like a sellout yuppie mobile. Well, compared to BMW’s current offerings, the E30 seems like a simple purist machine. E30s are becoming increasingly sought after, and the spec E30 racing series is getting quite popular. There are still lots out there, but nice ones tend to get snapped up quick. And good luck finding a nice, reasonably priced E30 M3.
We have tons of cool E30s on our site. This rare 325iX has a Megasquirt engine management system. Ben’s car is gonna be sick when it’s done. Brian’s M3 is stroked and is putting out 275 hp. Piper Motorsports has by far the craziest E30 on CarDomain. And Pat seems to be addicted to Bimmers in general and E30s in particular (see pic below).
