E30

By Rob

Editor-in-Chief

The first E30 arrived in the US as a 1984 model, and for the first time the 3-series was available as a four door and with an inline six. Jeff’s 325is will be competing in this year’s $2007 Challenge. Dan and I got rides in this spec E30 at VIR. Matt sold his 325i (shown parked behind his buddy’s M3 below) last year. This rare 325iX has a Megasquirt engine management system. Michael’s 325is sat in the weeds for two years before he rescued it. Baden has a beautiful right hand drive E30. Travis has been working hard on his 325e. Christopher’s beautiful 325i was totaled in 2003. And Ben’s car has turbo power.

The E30 M3 finally came to the US in 1988. Will’s M3 is stunning. My buddy Young has the cleanest M3 you’ll ever see. Brian’s M3 is stroked and is putting out 275 hp. Pat added Motorsport stripes and a turbo to his M3.

Stay tuned. Tomorrow we look at the E36.

NASA Championships This Weekend

By David

GRM Editorial Director

I’m heading back to Mid-Ohio this weekend for the NASA Championships, where we’ll be running our Spec E30 race car. If you’re going to be at the track this weekend, stop by our paddock area and say hi. I’ll be there with Scott, our events editor. I’m the one who will be telling him to go really fast (and if something is in his way, turn). Thinking about coming out to the track this weekend? Go to nasachampionships.com for details.
