Every once in a while I think it might be safe to park my Mopar in front of my house for a few minutes or hours and then something like this happens. Sucks…

Car Culture At Large

When living so close to ‘The Ring’ you sometimes feel spoiled as the high performance cars you’ll encounter at the track become normal. For example, Porsche 911 GT3s are nothing special to see when Speedhunting at the Nordeschliefe.  So you start searching for cars that are less obvious to satisfy your car craving. On my last visit I spotted this BMW E36 touring which certainly grabbed my attention. Continue reading at Speedhunters

E36 M3 Detailed Within an Inch of Its Life

By Rob Einaudi

I give my Satellite a sponge bath once per year whether it needs it or not. But I know a lot of CarDomain members are hardcore detailers and would appreciate this thread on DetailingWorld, where some Brits drag a dirty but super low mileage E36 M3 out of a shed and detail it within an inch of its life. I dropped a bunch of photos below the jump, but be sure to click through to the original forum thread for all the pics and info. You know people are serious when they bust out the paint thickness meter.

9 From The '90s: E36 M3

By Rob

Editor-in-Chief

The December issue of Grassroots Motosports has a great article by David Wallens called "9 From The ’90s," which takes a look at GRM’s nine favorite cars from the Clinton era. As David points out, many of these cars are nearing the bottom of their depreciation curve, and can be a killer deals for enthusiasts. I’m going to look at one per day for the next nine days. First up: the E36 M3.

We talked about the E36 M3 a bit in a recent Whip of the Week. It was available from 1995 to 1999, and we happen to have a former Grassroots Motorsports project car on our site (Alan’s ’95 M3, pictured below). This factory hot rod can be anything from a classy daily driver to a dominant force on the track. David writes that values range from $6500 to $25,000, depending on the year and condition. You can read more about the E36 M3 and get links to a ton of M3 resources in the December issue of Grassroots Motorsports, on newsstands now.

E36

The E36 3-series arrived as a 1992 model. The new car was bigger: the overall length stretched four inches and the wheelbase stretched five inches. Rich has a beautiful Montreal Metalic Blue vert. Nathan got his E36 out of junkyard. Josh bagged his car. Jean has a great looking Ti. This 3-series is Nasa GTS3/SCCA D prepared. Dee did a tranny swap and supercharged his 3.2. And Michael set up his 325is for autocross and got Mario Andretti to sign his dash.

The E36 M3 came to the US in 1995. Alan bought his M3 from Grassroots Motorsports. Stance36′s M3 (below) has been tastefully modded. And Luke is a member of Team Eurowerkz.

Stay tuned! Tomorrow we look at tht E46.
