1957 Chevy Sedan Delivery on eBay
By Brian Lohnes
BANGshift.com
This week’s eBay find is a totally awesome 1957 Chevy sedan delivery. According to our research, this is one of 8,300 examples constructed by Chevy in 1957. These cars were extremely popular in NHRA Jr. Stock eliminator and were actually the lightest variant of the 150-series Chevys in 1957.
The car in the auction we found is totally intact, but does not appear to be a runner. No worries there, the biggest thing is that this is a complete car and not some basket case that was hauled out of someone’s basement. Chevy called this body style a “Utility Sedan” and ths shipping weight was 3,168 pounds, placing it about 60 pounds lighter than the normal two-door 150 Chevy.
In the 1960s, Junior Stock was the designation given to the lower (and slower) Stock eliminator classes. These particular cars were great for those classes becase the NHRA actually considered them trucks. Because of that, racers could install truck equipment, like the four-speed Hydramatic auto transmission. With a hot small-block, that transmission (in place of a cast iron case Powerglide) and better weight transfer and traction that virtually any other combo, these babies were the hot number. We’d love to see someone buy this and build a period correct racer out of it!

Viper Beats the Z06 on CarDomain

The Chevy actually put up a pretty good fight in this week’s eBay Motors Showdown, but at the end of the day, the Viper wins for being more exclusive and more insane. Stay tuned for another eBay Motors Showdown next week!

Viper vs. Vette: Which Would You Choose?
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Ok, so you got $50k burning a hole in your pocket and want a 500 hp sports car. Well then how about a Viper? Or maybe a Z06 Vette? This 2006 Viper SRT-10 comes with a 505 cubic inch V-10 which produces 500 hp and 525 pound-feet of torque. This 2008 Corvette Z06 packs a 427 cubic inch LS7 V-8 which produces 505 hp and 470 pound-feet of torque. The Vette has a bunch of electronic nannies to help keep you out of the ditch. The Viper… not so much. Both examples are low mileage cars and appear to be in excelling condition. Which would you choose?

IROC vs. 5.0: Too Close to Call!
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
This week’s ebay Motors Showdown really hit a chord with people. Even with our ongoing commenting issues (now even I can’t comment, and yes, we are working on it) we got a HUGE response on this one. At first it looked like the IROC was gonna walk away with it, but then the Fox body rallied, and in the end this one is just too close to call!
Looks like the 1988 Camaro IROC Z-28 got bid up to $4,550 with the reserve still not met before time ran out. The 1989 Mustang GT auction still has three days to go, with the bid currently at $2,550. But any way you look at it, both of these cars offer a big bang for the buck. And we’ll definitely run more Mustang vs. Camaro shoot outs in the future, cause they are a of of fun!

IROC vs. 5.0: Which Would You Choose?
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Ok guys, time for a 3rd gen vs. Fox body showdown! This 1989 Mustang GT looks to have been nicely redone and it’s a 5 speed to boot. The 1988 Camaro IROC Z-28 is unrestored and has some fading paint, but this is slightly rarer car, too, with the L98 5.7 liter TPI (which was only available with the automatic). And of course both come in a killer black/grey color combo. So, which would you choose?
1967 Oldsmobile Limo on eBay
By Brian Lohnes
BANGshift.com
This is quite possibly the weirdest thing we have ever seen. At first glance it looks like an ambulance, at second glance it looks like something a deranged serial killer would drive. Is it weird we love it?
The car will need a complete restoration as the decades of Maine weather have not exactly been kind to its outward appearance. Apparently the 455ci mill is in good health and the owner claims that the floors and subframe are in good condition. The interior looks like an episode of CSI could be filmed inside. It’s hurtin’ and we think we can actually smell it through the screen of our computer.
You know you want it. Bid now and bid often!

Wild Blown Hemi Powered Street Legal Bantam Altered on eBay
By Brian Lohnes
BANGshift.com
If you’re thinking what we’re thinking, we share the same mental illness. Our thought process when we laid eyes on this wild hunk of iron jumped directly to Hot Rod’s Drag Week. It would most likely be miserable in many respects, but pulling off the trip in this car would certainly be something to tell the grandkids about. This is really a drag car, a fiberglass bodied altered with a passenger seat. Oh, and a blown Hemi.
The car is currently registered and driven in Iowa. That may be the only state in the Union that would allow something like this to carry license plates, with the exception of Michigan which is like lawless in that department. If you attempted to operate this on the streets of Massachusetts, you’d likely be shot on site.
The aluminum-headed 392 Hemi is stroked and blown via a 6-71 Littlefield huffer. The chassis is all chrome-moly and features a four-link rear suspension and torsion bars up front. It is wild beyond description. The “real” flame paint job is a violation, but a couple of rattle cans could fixt that.

Countach Beats the 512 Boxer on CarDomain
By Rob Einaudi

I guess this shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, but the 1987 Lamborghini Countach handily beat the 1984 Ferrari 512 BBi in this week’s eBay Motors Showdown. I really admire the Countach, but for a car to own and drive, I would definitely go with the Boxer, which is one of my favorite Ferraris of all time. Stay tuned for another match up next week, and if you have any suggestions for future eBay Motors Showdowns, please leave them in the comments below!

Thinking About Selling Your Car? Check Out eBay Local Classifieds
By Ryan Porter
SEMA Photo Guy
When you want to sell your car you have to think about exposure. I doubt any of you would just put a For Sale sign on the window and call it good in this day and age. Of course not, we have tons of great resources that help you get rid of your car like your favorite forum, AutoTrader (various listing fees apply), eBay Motors ($125 when it sells) and now eBay Motors Local Classifieds, which is free! Yes, you can now list your car on eBay and get the increased exposure for free. On top of that, if you’re a buyer there are some cool things, too. Every car that is listed gets an AutoCheck score so you don’t have to pay for it. No other service provides this to you for every single car in the system.
Well enough of that. If you are in the market for a 2009 Audi A5 S-Line take a look at mine. It’s for sale on eBay Motors Local Classifieds! Maybe eBay will give me a badge to put on my ride page since it’s for sale!

Veilside RX-7 vs. Hakosuka Clone: Which Would You Choose?
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
I figured it was time for some import tuner love in this week’s eBay Motors Showdown. The Veilside RX-7 is a magazine quality FD with $50k in mods according to the seller. And the Hakosuka Clone looks sweet and has lots of authentic JDM touches. Oh, and both of these rides are John Naderi approved. So, which would you choose?

The winners have been announced for eBay Motors Master Contest. Here’s one of my favorites, the Minissan, which won the tuner category. See the winning entries for muscle cars, off-road and motorcycles after the jump. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing these rides and meeting the builders in person next week at SEMA. Think you can do better? Then start documenting your project and enter next year!

Nova vs. Duster: Which Would You Choose?
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Duster owners always hate it when people say, “Nice Nova!” so I thought I’d put the two together in this week’s eBay Motors Showdown. Originally my plan to was to look for beaters, but then I found two nice “survivors”—yes, an overused term, but I think it applies fairly well to these examples. The 1972 Nova is not really an SS, and it’s unclear whether it’s wearing original paint, but it does seem to be quite clean and original. The 1973 Duster 340 seems to be a very original and well-documented one owner car. Auctions are ending very soon (and may be done by the time many of you see this blog post) and it’s unclear if either will make the reserve, but they seem to be priced pretty close. Anyway, click the links to the two auctions above and then let us know—which would you choose?
