Grand Prix Racer At Group 2 Motorsports
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
Last week I was over at Group 2 Motorsports filming another installment in the Quaker State video series, and this crazy vintage Grand Prix car just happened to be up on the rack for an alignment and balance. It’s got a 3-liter Ferrari boxer V-12 that’s good for about 400 hp at–get this–11,000 rpm. It’s owned by John Goodman Racing, and it ran at Monaco back in the early 70′s. The crappy cell phone pics don’t do it justice, but you can see a few more below the jump.

How Is It Possible To Lose A Part This Big?
By Sam Barer
Sound Classics
One of the most frustrating things about do-it-yourself auto repair is dealing with vanishing parts. The only thing worse than turning a twenty-minute job into a two-day event by dropping that special nut, bolt or spring is to break the part outright due to sheer frustration or stupidity.
I’m well experienced with all forms of parts losing, but I seem to specialize in fumbling nuts and bolts into the depths of the most inaccessible places. With this in mind, I wasn’t surprised when during the process of replacing the eight too-lean jets on the four Weber carburetors on the Infamous Craigslist 1976 Ferrari Dino 308 GT4, I bumped one of the tops of the carburetors sitting on the edge of the air cleaner housing. I heard it go falling down into the engine bay with a succession of clanks and pings.
I figured it was no problem. After all, an air horn of a Weber DCNF is too big to lose, right? Read on…

My “No-Cars Vacation” Pledge Failed. How Did You Do?
By Sam Barer
Sound Classics
I’m not good at taking vacations. I don’t take them very often and I’m bad at them when I do. “Vacation” implies getting away from work, and I have always had a strong sense of duty to my deadlines. Hell, I even once spent a day of my honeymoon writing and uploading new content to the software company’s web site for which I was product line director in sync with a major launch. This was after the CEO told me to not to worry about it until I got back.
And it’s happened again. Here I am today with my wife and kids in Honolulu on the 35th floor of a hotel overlooking Waikiki Beach… and I’m writing about cars while they swim in the pool. Indeed, two days ago my vow to avoid automotive-related stuff died like a college freshman’s virginity pledge when I noticed the Ferrari Store wedged in with other high-end retailers on the main drag here. Read on…

Top Ten Vehicles That Need to Come Back
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Most of these vehicles should never have disappeared in the first place, but all of them need to come back. Now. Let me know what you think of my list. What did I miss?
Ford Bronco
I really don’t know what Ford is waiting for. Seems like a no brainer to me.
See the rest after the jump!

Nakamura Racing’s Ferrari 308 GTO
By Ben Schaffer
The Real JDM
WIN.
After seeing this picture I instantly started looking up prices of used 308 GTBs ($30,000 for those wondering). This car is flawless and a perfect example of retro JDM tuning with a Exotic car twist. If I could own this car for anywhere near $30,000 in this condition I’d be lining up for one right now.
Nakamura Engineering is one of Japan’s most well regarded Ferrari tuning and maintenance shops. We’ve featured them on this blog before, but this latest picture of their 308 GTO is one of the cleanest and best cars I’ve seen lately. You totally forget that the car is 30 years old looking at this picture!
I’ll be posting some more on Nakamura Racing soon…

Turning Horses Into Glue 101
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
Turning Italian bred horses into glue, glue sticks, or other adhesives is a very simple process that requires minimal tooling. The following clip of an Evo turning a Ferrari into fresh glue sticks is yet another point for JDM in the worldwide battle for automotive supremacy. Read more about the horse slaughter at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

Mason County Forest Festival Car Show Summary
By Sam Barer
Sound Classics
Despite its claim as the “Christmas Tree Capital Of The World,” Shelton, Washington is not the epicenter of anything. Considering that the town closes its streets at least twice in June for car shows, though, it can at least be identified as the most octane-friendly place west of Puget Sound.
Shelton again hosted the annual Mason County Forest Festival (curious isn’t it that there’s a forest-themed fair in a place that lives and dies by the timber industry?) Car Show this past weekend. The show draws people from all over Mason, Thurston and Grays Harbor counties, which means that if a bomb dropped on the show, pretty much everyone who used to read my weekly “Sound Classics” newspaper column would be wiped off the map. That also meant that despite the pouring rain, I had an obligation to be there to support my car friends.
In the past I’ve taken my 1960 Triumph TR-3, 1986 Ferrari 328 GTS and a long-since-sold 1969 big block Corvette Convertible up there, but I decided this year to introduce the townspeople to the Infamous Craigslist 1976 Ferrari Dino 308 GT4. I suppose that I could have also taken the ’79 Chevy K10, but I still can’t excited about showing what I consider a work truck.

Ferrari 458 Italia
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
While at the 2010 Ferrari Festival at Fuji Speedway, a tour of the parking lot soon turned up examples of one the of the cars making its Japan debut at the event, the striking 458 Italia. The car that replaces the F430 certainly is a worthy successor to the most popular model from the brand. It turns out there was a pair of the new machine at Fuji. Note this example had rather more sporty wheels than the white one. Better illustrated in this image. The 458 looks destined to become yet another classic. Continue reading at Speedhunters

ASI Ferrari 458 Italia? Maybe Not But Cool
By Ben Schaffer
The Real JDM
Although it is not officially from ASI, perhaps this may represent a direction they are considering for a future Ferrari 458 Italia aerodynamics kit? I really like the winglets over the rear fenders in this kit. I’ve been waiting a while for someone to make a well integrated x wing type design into aftermarket aerodynamic tuning.
It’s fun to look at aerodynamic design! The 458 Italia in itself brings heaps of new inspiration courtesy of Pinninfarina so it’s quite fun to start to imagine tuner versions.
