Zetec Fiesta

By Speedhunters

Car Culture At Large

One of the cars that caught my attention at the Ford Fair last weekend was this 80′s Fiesta. I’m pretty certain it’s the MKII variant as the MKI had round lights. The Fiesta has long been associated as a reliable town car and with the exception of the XR, ST and RST variants has lived a relatively sedate life. The decision to turn this simple city car into a caged, stripped and powerful track car was pure wisdom.

It’s not the first and it won’t be the last Fiesta in this style but it’s definitely one of the finest examples I’ve laid eyes on. Powered by a DOHC Zetec engine, although I’m not sure what capacity, it certainly has the power to propel this featherweight car to some quick laptimes. See more of this hot UK hatch at Speedhunters.

Ken Block Falls on Hard Times. Forced to Sell Infamous Gymkhana STI

By John Naderi

StreetFire.net

We found this thread on VW Vortex. Maybe Ken Block has not sufficiently wowed his new Ford partners enough as of yet. Perhaps the economic downturn has slowed the sale of DC Shoes and flat-brimmed hats. Maybe his upcoming gymkhana event series couldn’t find funding (uh, what we mean is, what gymkhana event series?).

Ken Block at 2009 X Games

Maybe this Craig’s List post is a joke. Maybe it was all just a dream. And maybe, just maybe, this seller is serious. Maybe he – yes, he, because there is no way a woman would do this to her car – is on drugs. Perhaps he’s on some medical grade nitrous, or meth, or maybe even something that we don’t know about. Maybe something that would require an ice cube up the butt. But then, Coyle is only one who would know anything about that.

All we have to say is that to be truly ironic this seller should have applied KB’s Subaru livery to a Ford Escort wagon. Get it? On second thought, it doesn’t get much more hi-lar-ious than the green underglow and hidden trailer hitch. That is, unless you were to release a remix of the original Gymkhana video, with machine guns and Sid and Marty Kroft explosive effects. Yes, that would rock us like a hurricane.

Tanner Foust to Compete in Rallycross, World Domination to Soon Follow

By John Naderi

StreetFire.net

Shaun White has nothing on Tanner Foust. After all, he only competes in TWO disciplines, snowboarding and skateboarding. Meanwhile Foxy Tan Tan (as we like to call him) is a regular threat for a podium in drifting, rally (including the X Games), the International Race of Champions and time attack just to name a few motorsports. Let’s not forget he’s the host of Supercars Exposed and he was this close to being the Stig’s more talented American Cousin. Not to mention he’s a big time Hollywood stunt driver lending shock and awe to supplement the absurd in movies like the Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift.

Tanner Foust and Kenny Brack at the 2009 X Games

This season Tanner will add the position of rallycross driver to his already impressive resume. Tanner will compete in select rounds of the European Rallycross Championship this year in addition to the Formula Drift series, the X Games and select Rally America events. Rallycross is like a hyper frenetic, condensed version of a rally stage (like a super special) and the ‘cross cars are even more potent than their rally cousins. Hit the jump to see some videos from the 2009 X Games of Tanner with the Olsbergs MSE rallycross Fiestas. There’s also the obligatory – and usually bland and uninformative – press release as well. However, in this release Tanner is quoted saying that rallycross will come to the US later this year. Well, wouldn’t that just be all sorts of awesome. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.

Ken Block On Ice

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

This awesome new footage of Ken Block drifting his new Ford Fiesta on icy Michigan roads really makes me wish for some decent snow-wheelin’ weather here in the mushy Northwest. It also makes me wish NASCAR would have their Sprint Cup teams throw on some Blizzaks and run a race in the mountains, like in that beer commercial. Can you imagine a field of 40+ cars ripping it up around those turns?

Build and Price Your Ford Fiesta!

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

You can now build and price a 2011 Ford Fiesta at fordvehicles.com. Pricing starts at $13,320 for the sedan and $15,120 for the hatch. I got to drive one in New York earlier this year and was impressed. Should give the Honda Fit a run for the money.

Spy Shots: The US Version of the 2011 Ford Fiesta Sedan

By Rich Truesdell

Automotive Traveler

Automotive Traveler magazine contributor Mark Fletcher shows why it’s always a good idea to keep your camera by your side as you never know when you’ll encounter a camouflaged prototype, in this case the US-spec version of Ford’s upcoming 2011 Fiesta.

While we know that the Ford Fiesta is coming to the North America next year, Ford is going to great lengths to keep front and rear details of the domestic version secret while the cars undergo their final validation tests. So while the 100 Fiestas currently taking part in Ford’s Fiesta Movement program gives us a good idea of its overall silhouette, we’ll still be seeking out the detail differences between the European and US versions. Yesterday, on his return trip from Las Vegas, Mark Fletcher hit pay dirt as he was able to capture some exceptionally clear images of Ford’s upcoming B-segment subcompact. Read more about this discovery at Automotive Traveler.

X-Rated Rally Games

By John Naderi

StreetFire.net

The X Games Rally Super Special is history. Yeah, we know, this is not “real” rally racing or even a super special in its purest form. And its true that some of the “qualivited” action sports crossover competitors may not turn times as quick as many of the real pro ‘shoes, but it is X-citing and its good to see any kind of motorsport huck itself into the mainstream spotlight. Although this year’s super special was rather anti-climactic compared to the thrills and spills of the first four years that rally’s been at X. Make like Travis Pastrana here and hit the jump to see our StreetFire.net video coverage and more pictures and stories from X.
