Wintersun Rocks On
Tcassa
The annual Wintersun festival has come and gone, and boy what a show it was! The rock ‘n’ roll event is held each year on Queensland’s Gold Coast, and is an absolute must for anyone interested in all-things American. The festival is now in its 32nd and final year, with government bureaucracy relocating the show 6 hours south, much to the disappointment of all those involved!
My family and I made our way down early Sunday morning to enjoy a nice breakfast before hitting the strip to view the muscle on show. The festival caters for all American muscle enthusiasts, with a variety of 60s and 70s Mustangs, Camaros and Mopars pulling plenty of crouds. I payed special attention to the hot rods that were on display, with my favorite being a beautiful 32 coupe that was near spotless. Plenty of pics after the jump!

Vaughn Gittin JR and His 2011 Ford Mustang GT Are Ready to Rock
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
Was it all a dream or possibly a fantasy perhaps? We just got back from a star-studded Hollywood-style premiere. But the star attraction was not some coked out, starved-for-attention starlet (not that there’s anything wrong with that) but one of our favorite drifters introducing his all-new competition car for the 2010 Formula Drift series. Hit the jump to see more up skirt shots of this sexy beast.

American Muscle At Its Finest
Tcassa
A small but determined group of gearheads braved the wild weather and displayed their American beauties right in the heart of Melbourne this past weekend. A good mixture of old and new American iron was on show, with my favorite being this spotless ’68 Camaro. More pics after the jump!
Ford Mustang NOS Fire
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
Sometimes hitting the NOS too soon can cause nasty results. This late model Ford Mustang suffered the consequences from pre-NOS’ing, but question here is did he really need to hit the NOS racing against a Durango? Lesson learned. Read more about the hotness at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

Ford Mustang Curb Check
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
After performing a monster burnout, the Fox body failed to see through the smoke and drove right over a massive curb and median. Ouch, the poor Fox never saw it coming but took it like a champ. Read more about the curbed delight at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

Mustang Stampede
Tcassa
Mustangs, we all love ‘em, especially the earlier years with their distinctive looks and outright road presence. So when my folks herd… I mean heard there was a Mustang Concours event just north of home, they couldn’t pass up the event! Mustangs from all years were on show, and even though the location was a bit of a dust bowl, owners still turned up ready to showoff their polished ponies. The concours, held by the Queensland branch of the Mustang Owners Club, was in conjunction with the Castrol Edge Muscle Car Spectacular, so there were plenty of other American muscle fighting for the attention.
Oh and I bet you didn’t know the new Challenger came in right hand drive spec! Just kidding… it was specially converted to suit Aussie roads and rules. What do you think about that, pretty cool huh? Loads of pics after the jump!

Theft of ‘69 Mustang Thwarted, but at What Price?
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
We hate to see things like this happen. Mike Gomez, of Glendale, Arizona, recently wrote to us looking for help locating a straight body for his Mustang. Why? We’ll let him tell the story:
Thirty some years ago I came to own my first 69 Mustang, little did I know how unique a car I had. It was a 428 Mach 1 Cobra Jet 4 speed with a 9″ positraction rear end, power steering, power brakes and tilt steering wheel. I bought the car from my cousin when he got too many tickets and his Dad made him sell it. I had the car for about three years, then got married and sold it to buy my first house. I’ve owned many other cars that today are worth a fortune, who knew that they would go up in value so much.
Well, years passed and I always regretted selling the Mustang so I made a decision with my Wife, Sheri, to get a project car. She found a 69 Mustang on the Internet back in Illinois and we bought the car looking only at the pictures on the Internet. That is the last time I’ll do that!

Vaughn Gittin Jr and His Superbad Falken Drift 2010 Mustang GT
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
I first met Vaughn Gittin Jr. in a non-descript Maryland strip mall parking lot on a Wednesday night in September of 2001. He was hanging out at the kickoff party for the old Super Street Tour. He was introduced to me as a “drifter” but I was nonplussed. Keep in mind, at this point I had already been to Japan and witnessed Taniguchi manji the OG HKS S15 at Bihoku Highland. I was already a JDM drift fan boy with no time for a wannabe. Fast forward to last Saturday night and I see JR at a party. He is no longer the fresh-faced kid I remember. Now he walks with a swagger that can only come after running the high bank of Irwindale harder than the world’s best drifters. In this picture he’s riding the wall on the 100 mph first turn at the Red Bull event in his 2008 car, “Betsy”. On this day he would later tag the wall too hard retiring the car. But that’s his style – go big or… you know the rest. This year, poppa JR’s gotta a brand new bag. Hit the jump to see the video. As an added bonus check out the verbal smackdown he lays on Samuel Hubinette at the 1:57 mark.
