Four-Wheelin’ H3
By Jen Dunnaway

Anyone who feels that the littler Hummers are just yuppie commuter pods that need to stay on the pavement should check out Stan’s ride page. It’s amazing what he’s able to do with his H3, and the views from mountain trails in Colorado and Texas are beautiful.

Burly General Tire Baja Race Truck
The Team 71 Trick Truck, General Tire’s off-road competition rig, packs a 442 cid V8 that gets a whopping 822 horsepower. Since it’s racing on loose surfaces, I have a hard time imagining how it’s able to put all that power on the ground. It doesn’t hurt that it’s running General Tire’s tear-resistant Grabbers. The team 71 is a contender in the infamous Baja 1000 as well as the Mint 400, and it won the Vegas-to-Reno race this year. More pics after the jump!

Setting Up At The Skyjacker Booth
Skyjacker Suspensions generally has a pretty burly display at SEMA, and I was stoked to see the guys putting the finishing touches on this year’s effort. Through a deal with Ford, they managed to get ahold of this pre-production 2009 F-150 for their booth. I talked to Tom O’Neil, who said it’s running a 6" lift kit and a 3" strut kit. The big rockpile dumping out the back will have RC cars running on it once the display goes live. See more pics!

Amoco Ultimate Favorite: Dodge Ram Rockcrawler
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
Even though Amoco is giving away a ton of prizes, there’s so many awesome entries in the Your Car Is Worth It Contest that we can’t possibly shower them all with free BP gas cards and trips to the races. So we thought we’d highlight some of our faves in the blog. I totally dig this awesome home-built rockcrawler. Here’s what the owner says about it:
This is the first truck I ever purchased with my own hard earned money. I bought the truck bone stock in 2002, with almost 100,000 miles on the odometer, because that was all I could afford at the time. Every dollar I have put into it since then I have worked my butt off for, and now I can play just as hard with the truck to show for it!!! This truck truly is my pride and joy! I do all of my own work and get a real sense of accomplishment by building a winner, not buying one!!
There are still more chances to win, so if you haven’t already thrown your hat into the ring, make sure to enter the Amoco Ultimate Your Car Is Worth It Photo Contest!

"Uber FJ"
By Jen Dunnaway

I realize that some of y’all are big FJ haters, but you’ve gotta hand it to Todd, who’s built a supercharged baja version of Toyota’s retro SUV into an ultimate "high-speed desert exploration" machine. Check out this dramatic and extra-hilarious video to get an idea of what he means by that, and don’t forget to check out his ride page!

Fangster: Not A GL You Want To Mess With
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
Geoff was stoked to be able to find a full-time 4wd transfer case with low-range gearing for his burly little GL, especially in Australia, where these boxes are apparently hard to come by. Now this Sube is unstoppable, both on the beach and in the mud. Next up: a snorkel. Check out his page!

Extreme Jeep Crawler Eats Rocks for Breakfast!
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
Clearly, rock crawling takes loads of skill, but sometimes the footage can be a little tedious. A four-minute video of some guy moving a Jeep two inches? Meh. This clip, on the other hand, takes it to a whole new level—literally. It just seems there’s so many opportunities for a catastrophic fail in these brief 17 seconds, and yet he makes it. You’ll see what I mean.

Bell Aurens Longnose, A Land Rover Based "Off-Roadster"
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
How’s this for a crossover? A German company will be building made-to-order convertible Land Rover 109′s that are meant to evoke the feel of vintage British roadsters while providing burly four-wheeling capacity. It’s a little hard to tell from the elliptically-written Bell Aurens website, but it appears that the Longnose will go into "production" with a handful of vehicles per year, each one built to customer specifications. Among available options are the 4.6L or 5.0L Rover V8, or if you really wanna pull out all the stops, a 27-liter V12 Rolls Royce Merlin aircraft motor with an output of of 1500 horsepower. Now that should make for some extreme off-roading! More concept pics below the jump, and check out Bell Auren’s gallery for a cool series on the build of the prototype Longnose.
