Caption Contest: This Week’s Winner!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
This week, the weather has been absolutely hideous in Los Angeles, and by hideous, I mean “perfectly normal for winter in Seattle.” Now most of the time, the Emerald City’s climate didn’t bother me. I got used to being wet and cold, and I didn’t see any reason to bitch about it. But it took me about ten seconds to get used to the California Sun, and when it even looks like it’s going top drizzle here, I get pissed off. Anyway, I always say there were a bunch of good submissions, but this time I actually mean it, and picking a winner was tough. But in the end, I had to give it to carsick30, who came up with; “Does this make my pants look red?” Tune in tomorrow for the next installment of our totally trippy Caption Contest!

Caption Contest: This Week’s Winner!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
It took me a little while to get used to Los Angeles, but I have to say, I’m really starting to love it. You can buy liquor in the grocery store, it’s loaded with awesome restaurants, and the weather is almost comically perfect. Seriously, when it does happen to rain, which it does like every couple of months, people freak out. It’s like what happens when it snows in Seattle. Sorry if you’re currently buried in snow, I’m really not trying to rub it in. Anyway, this week’s winner is NobiZero, who came up with; “Wrong button Bond!” Congrats man! Tune in tomorrow for the next installment of our freakishly popular Caption Contest!

December Castrol GTX Winner!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
Congrats to Mike, the the latest winner of our “Castrol GTX How Do You Keep Your Car So Clean?” contest! Here’s what he had to say about his ride:
The stresses and loads on oil in a classic Mini is second to none due to the engine and gearbox sharing the same oil. Through the long racing/rallying heritage of the Mini, Castrol GTX has always been the life-blood to these pocket rockets. All of my Minis run Castrol GTX. Granted this Mini, named Minissan, has a nitrous injected 3.0 liter V6 from a Nissan 300ZX, but quality is quality. I’m breaking the engine in with GTX and then going to the Edge. Minissan took over 4,000 hours to build, so taking care of it inside and out has become a passion in itself. While we completed the build for under $8,000, money is no object when it comes to taking care of it. We’ve learned by trial and error what waxes, polishes, and cleaners to use to make it stand out and last. But after using Castrol GTX for the past 30 years the choice for oil was obvious, Castrol. Thanks for all of the years of quality and performance! To truly appreciate Minissan you need to see the rusty shell we started with and how a V6 looks right at home under the hood!
Well said, Mike! Congrats to all the great winners we had in 2009! Stay tuned, because there are more great contests coming for 2010!

Caption Contest: This Week’s Winner!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
This was my first full week back in the office, and I have to say I’m just glad the holidays are over. All the traveling, visiting family and partying really took it out of me, and I’m happy to back to my normal routine. In other news, another shipment of t-shirts is on the way, big-time thanks to all the winners who’ve been so patient about getting their gear. Anyway, the winner of this week’s contest is VWLarry, who came up with; “Willing to do Jack Nicholson impersonations for food.” Nice work, Larry! Welcome to CarDomain! I don’t think anyone’s ever won a Caption Contest after being a member for less than a week! Tune in tomorrow for the next outrageous installment!

I got back to Los Angeles from Florida late Tuesday night, and I’m completely stoked to be back in La La Land. It’s not home yet, but I guess it’s close enough. Anyway, this week’s winner is leojmcca, who came up with; “You darn Autobots are going to have to sleep outside if you’re not house broken.” Congrats, man! Caption Contest: This Week’s Winner!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
Eagle-eyed readers will notice that I’m announcing the winner of the Caption Contest a day early. So if you had a killer submission you were hoping to slide in at the last minute, I sincerely apologize. But the CarDomain staff is taking Christmas Eve off, and we figured announcing a day early was better than doing it four days late, or like, totally forgetting to do it. Anyway, this week’s winner is Robb65, who came up with; “For my birthday, my wife wanted to give me a “flame job.” I told her to stick with what she knew… “ Dude, that was one of the funniest captions I’ve read all year. Congrats. And to all the winners awaiting their swag, hang tight, I’m just trying to make sure we don’t have to send you office supplies instead of cool t-shirts. Happy Christmas everyone, tune in tomorrow for the latest installment of our chemically dependent Caption Contest!

Caption Contest: This Week’s Winner!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
Since Christmas is almost upon us, I’m writing this from my parent’s house outside of Tampa. The funny thing? Even though I flew here from Los Angeles—not Seattle, like previous years—the weather in La La Land has been so crappy that the climate change felt remarkably similar. Totally funny. Anyway, the winner of this week’s contest is kmckeever77, who came up with; “Great, now I can use them ejection seats!” Eagle-eyed readers will notice that I corrected the spelling/spacing/punctuation errors in that submission, but whatever. Happy Christmas. Tune in tomorrow for the next installment of our eggnog-sodden Caption Contest!

Caption Contest: This Week’s Winner!

OK, I have to admit that all the Matrix references caught me off guard here. Maybe it’s because I only saw the first one? Anyway, I almost picked tone7ate9′s submission, because the Kanye West/Tiger Woods reference caught me completely off guard, but in the end, I had to give it to trillwill, who came up with; “I can see your problem from here…” Simple, to the point, and funny—nice work man! Tune in tomorrow for the next installment of our smashingly good Caption Contest!

November Castrol GTX Winner!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
Congrats to Cliff, the the latest winner of our “Castrol GTX How Do You Keep Your Car So Clean?” contest! Here’s what he had to say about his ride:
This is a 1991 Trans Am GTA, with a 5.L Tuned Port Injection system on it. The car has 299, 400 miles on the car has went a best of 13.95 at 97 mph, on regular BFG street tire with 32 lbs in them. Also the car has been through a lot of tires, 6 rear ends, 3 transmissions, 4 windshields, 4 bumper covers, but all of this with one motor; the original one in there now. After it turns over 300k, I will race it next spring to go deeper in the 13′s Oh and yes on street tires. The engine had a larger cam and springs installed at 200, 000 miles on the engine, and it will have another cam swap next spring, but that is all, the heads are the original, and the oil pan has never been off. At 75 mph, the oil press is between 32 and 35 psi. I owe everything to Castrol Syntec for making this motor last as long as it has… Thanks Castrol!!! You ROCK!!!
Well said, Cliff! If you haven’t already entered this contest, do it now! It’s easy and free and you could win up to $1,000!
