By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
Our buddy Adam Zillin over at 7Tune.com has been closely following development of the FT-86, and at a recent Toyota press event in Japan, Adam took the opportunity to get the latest scoop on everybody’s favorite car of the future.
Contrary to reports that the project had been delayed, Adam was told that the car is still on track for a release in November 2011, with development about 50% complete. Meanwhile we still wait for word on how much power the car will be packing when it hits dealers.
Slowly but surely, the car is shaping up. Can the fall of ’11 come any sooner? For more, head over to 7Tune.

FT86 Delayed Until 2013?
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
Here’s some not particularly good news regarding everyone’s favorite automobile of the future – the Toyota FT-86. Word out of Japan is that the release of the car has been pushed back to 2013, possibly to rethink the design or even to accommodate hybrid technology. Considering the overwhelming positive response the concept has had, I can’t see any reason why a re-design would be in order, but who knows what goes on behind closed doors at Toyota? If true, this could be a pretty big setback to the people around the world waiting for this car. Then again, Japan’s automotive tabloids aren’t always the most legit source of information. Hopefully we’ll hear more about this soon.

The Real JDM
I did not want to write a blog post about the FT-86 Toyota. I really try to not blog about things everyone else has already molested to death. So instead of telling you how awesome it will be if this car actually comes out, or how a FR platform Toyota with a boxer engine is just what this industry needs to bring enthusiasts back in droves, I’m going to talk about a DVD player…and zippers.
Yes that’s right. You want to read about the car, check out the 1000 other blogs who are all saying basically the same thing. I’m talking about the DVD player.
Why? Because nobody else is. Continue reading at The Real JDM

Finally, here’s a first real look at the Toyota/Subaru joint venture and spiritual successor to the AE86. This light, compact RWD 2+2 is actually smaller than the Nissan 370Z. So what do you think? A few more pics after the jump. See the rest at Jalopnik
