Aircooled Golf

For anyone who says that the VW scene is boring and predictable, how does this grab you? It’s a MKIII Golf which is now running an aircooled engine which can be found where the groceries used to sit. Now, I’m no expert but I can’t imagine too many scenes where somebody would move the engine from front to rear and even fewer where someone would replace an arguably faster, more reliable engine with an older, slower one. As tracking shots go, I don’t think I’ve ever seen this one’s equal. The pink Little Trees are a nice touch. Innapinkracer found the pic, but doesn’t own the car–anyone know whose it is?

American fans of German cars like to think of the people across the pond as somehow gifted in the style department. Uh, let me look out my window here–that would be a no. While there are some really hot cars rolling around over here, there are also some winners like this Mk2 Golf with very stylish swirly wheel covers. This could be any Wal*Mart parking lot in America. Well, except for the Espace…. I’ll have more on the style quirks of our European peeps coming up–I’m moving over there for work in July!

I keep seeing these gorgeous cars pop up on blogs and forums proving the VW community is very much alive! A favorite is this burgundy red Mk3 owned by John Redfearn from the UK. This car showed up again when I got the latest fix of Performance VW . So I set off collecting some pictures from the web to create this spotlight.
