CarDomain’s Showoff Of The Week on Her Way To SEMA

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

Kerryann has done an amazing job on her R32 GT-R–not only is this ride unbelievably rare, but it’s a fully legitimate little track brawler as well. She’ll be running it in Redline Time Attack for the 2011 season, but before that there’s one little stop to make–at the SEMA show! The R32 will be displayed there as one of the Seibon feature cars, and Kerryann will be there too, representing at the Enkei booth. Congratulations Kerryann, we’ll see you in Vegas!

HKS R35 GT-R

By Speedhunters

Car Culture At Large

HKS and Taniguchi have for years been a winning combination, setting records wherever they go. Time attack has always helped push the tuning envelope further, as extreme parts and modifications eventually trickle down and are able to be used on street applications. This is what will eventually happen with the R35 GT-R. HKS definitely have something up their sleeves as we all saw at the recent R’s Meeting event. Continue reading at Speedhunters

In The Moment: World’s Fastest GT-R Testing for Jamboree

By Speedhunters

Car Culture At Large

The last time I witnessed Reece McGregor’s NZ based R32 GTR was back in 2006 when I first started taking photos. It hasn’t changed very much on the exterior, but has come back to Australia with a load more power. Let’s see if a new record is on the books.

This past Tuesday was quite a day of testing for this weekend’s Jamboree drag event, the most important Australian drag meeting of the year. McGregor ran an 8.3 @ 184mph pass on his second run, but the team wasn’t too impressed with this time. The clutch was pulling the car down and wasn’t set up correctly for the sticky track. After adjusting the clutch, the next pass was an 8.22 @ 183mph. With testing ending at 4PM the end of the day was already upon us, they put in one more pass: a 7.73 @ 187 mph. That’s a huge improvement over a short period of a few hours, it will be exciting to see what times it can pull this weekend’s Jamboree, Australia’s biggest sport compact and custom event of the year. Be sure to tune in, it’ll be streamed live all over the globe. See more at Speedhunters.

Bailey’s Beast: Nissan R35 GT-R

By Ryan Douthit

Drivingsports.com

Tim Bailey, the mad scientist of speed from Cobb Tuning, talks about his personal Nissan R35 GT-R development car, what needs to change in the next GT-R and the issues he faces drag racing a supercar. The white beast has close to 600HP on tap. The secret is a custom fuel system that allows Tim to run on the environmentally and tuner-friendly E85. It’s then aggressively tuned using Cobb’s Accessport tuning tool.

Desktops: Sumo Power GT-R Pack

By Speedhunters

Car Culture At Large

To celebrate the spectacular results achieved this season by the Sumo Power GT-Rs, we’ve put together a five-image desktop pack for you all. The #23 car of Michael Krumm / Peter Dumbreck leads a pack of Lamborghinis and Maseratis. Then we’ve got a beautiful rear-view of the GT-R… followed by the #22 car of Jamie Campbell-Walter and Warren Hughes. We’ve got a nice shot of the #22 car resting up after a long day of qualifying and racing. Finally, the heart of both cars: a Nismo VK56DE. The 5.6L V8 engine produces 600 normally aspirated horsepower exclusively to the rear wheels.

Head over to the Speedhunters for hi-res versions of all the aforementioned eye candy.

Toasty GT-R

Just got sent this very cool image of a BNR32 spitting a nice juicy flame from Australian-based photographer Dave Reid. It was taken earlier in the year at a Mercury Motorsport Dyno Competition. The 500 HP tuned GT-R is daily driven by its owner. Very cool!

Garage ITO With Prostock GT-R

By Speedhunters

Car Culture At Large

You are looking at one of the most far out GT-R time attack projects ever created. It cost a massive $350,000 to build and has yet to see the light of day on a race track. It all started back in 2006 when Hiroya-san, a very good customer of Garage Ito in Osaka, decided to see if he could challenge the lap time record at Tsukuba set by the HKS CT230R. Hiroya-san is a very successful business man, and with his company pretty much taking care of itself he decided to dedicate some more time to his passion. Continue reading at Speedhunters

Round the ‘Ring With Paddy!

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

The car is a 500HP R34 GT-R, and the track is obviously the ‘Ring. But it’s the passenger’s non-stop, withering critique of his buddy’s technique that makes this clip. Warning: If you really love birds, or just despise the masterful use of profanity, it’s probably not for you.
