Speaking of Supercar Garages…
Gotadime
I just happened to stumble across Mecca. Jason Thorgalsen recently photographed the most impressive Supercar Garage I’ve ever seen and it couldn’t have come at a better time. You guys aren’t going to believe what he found. Here’s a direct quote:
Recently, I was invited to a friends place to check out his house and car collection. Among his collection he has 2 Challenge Stradales, Murcielago, Carrera GT, and a F40. The black CS has some nice mods done to it including straight pipes, gold rims, and a Scuderia stripe in matte black. The Murcielago has the AWD system converted to RWD with a few other mods so its a real monster! Last but not least the Carrera GT has straight pipes! When you finally leave the garage, you walk through the house and come to find the F40 sitting right next to the living room! The whole room is dedicated to Ferrari, so having a real one in there just seems right. Then in the living room is one of the best video game setups I have ever seen. Four of us sat down and got to racing on Forza 2. It was pretty fun racing head to head while trash talking to the person right next to you.

By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
So you want a sporty AWD sedan for less than $30K? Two good options are the Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT and the Ford Fusion Sport AWD. The Subaru’s 2.5 liter turbo four banger puts out 243 hp while the Ford’s 3.5 liter V6 puts out 263 hp. The Subaru weighs 3,428 pounds while the Ford weighs 3,803 pounds. The Subaru is available with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic. The Ford is only available with a 6-speed automatic. Which would you choose?

Cross Country Trek in a 2010 Mustang GT
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
So last December I took a cross-country trip with my pal Brian Scotto – the editor of 0-60 Magazine – in a 2010 Ford Mustang GT. Now that the 0-60 Magazine feature “East Bound and Down” is on news stand’s – go get it, it’s a great read – I can share some of the cool things we did and saw along the way. After leaving LA ,our first stop was the Sourdough Saloon in Rachel, Nevada. This is the local watering hole for a lot of manufacturer engineers while they are testing in Death Valley. CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot: The 1968-70 Oldsmobile Toronado W-34
By Jim Brennan
UDMan
Welcome to the CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot, a regular feature which aims to expand the notion of what a muscle car is, and to expand conventional thinking while we’re at it. A few weeks ago, I ran a feature on the Pontiac Grand Prix GXP, and asked whether or not a FWD, V8-powered car could ever be considered a muscle car. The overwhelming majority of you said NO, so this time, I thought I’d reach back to the 1968-through-1970 time period. This was the true peak of the classic muscle car era, rife with fire-breathing HEMIs, Ford Cobra Jets, and at least four different GM big blocks. Let me introduce you to a true full-size coupe–but one with over 400 hp driving the front wheels. I give you the Oldsmobile Toronado W-34.

Glass Roof Mustang at CarDomain Headquarters
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
I was trying to figure out why Ford was giving us a 2009 Mustang GT. I mean, I wasn’t complaining—I love these cars. But there wasn’t really anything new for 2009 that I could think of. But then it showed up and I was like, oh yeah, glass roof! The perfect cure for Seattle seasonal affective disorder! Anyway, stay tuned for more on this red pony.

The GT Falcon Mother Lode
By Ron Honig
WaytooFurious
Last year I wrote a brief piece on the Bill Bourke Falcon GT that was for sale. The Ford Falcon GT is an Australian motoring icon which is still highly desirable despite the world economic downturn. Bill Bourke’s car was exported to America and then sent back to Australia. But his car was not the only one to cross the oceans. That’s why my jaw dropped when I saw the photos that my friend Dale e-mailed me. If someone was looking for the Ford Falcon GT mother lode outside of Australia, then this must be it! The only information that I have is that these cars were all found in the same place in South Africa. A number of GTs were exported from Australia to South Africa where they were assembled and sold as Fairmonts. Although they do not have the same clout in our car market as the “Australian” GTs, they are still highly desirable. If you know anything about this find please let me know. Corolla Axio APR GT
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
This Toyota Corolla has been transformed into a full blown Super GT contender. The car was build by APR, who were also responsible for the famous Lightning McQueen MR-S that competed last year in the GT300 class and even won 1 race. For the 2009 season APR thought it would be fitting to start with a completely new car. It was initially unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon and slowly a few more details have become available..
Team manager and chief engineer had this to say about his choice for the Corolla Axio; “My team has been using Corolla on the street, and, in spite of having a manual transmission, I often have taken the wheel also. I always thought that the car has everything in a nice package: good balance, maneuverability, drivability, etc. From there, I thought ‘Would we be able to make a racing car out of it?”
As you can see, they definably succeeded in making race car out of the plain looking Corolla. Continue reading at Speedhunters

Legacy GT Owner Tapes Dealership Porters Driving His Car
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Ok, this is pretty funny. A Legacy GT owner who posts as Scruit over at LegacyGT.com was worried that the dealership kids would joyride his car, so he mounted a DVR in the trunk and taped them with four in-car cameras. The kids driving the car seemed to be aware that they were being taped, so I’m sure they held back a bit. But they really didn’t treat the car THAT badly.
So do you worry about your car when you drop it off? I know my small and independent Subaru and Volvo mechanics way too well to be worried, and anyway, both those cars are too boring to thrash on. And only one other guy besides me touches my Mopar, and he’s more anal than me! Now, I guess if I had a newer Mustang or Challenger I’d be worried… Via Jalopnik
