GTO Wagon on eBay
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
It actually began life as an ultra-rare Tempest wagon, but was later done up as a full-on GTO clone, with a Pontiac 400, Hurst shifter, exterior-mounted tach, and all the rest. A very cool longroof Poncho if you ask me! Check out the auction.

Here’s a video of my favorite Ferrari causing havoc in all the right places, the Autobahn, local streets, and tunnels. Its exhaust is sweet music to our ears.

Nakamura Racing’s Ferrari 308 GTO
By Ben Schaffer
The Real JDM
WIN.
After seeing this picture I instantly started looking up prices of used 308 GTBs ($30,000 for those wondering). This car is flawless and a perfect example of retro JDM tuning with a Exotic car twist. If I could own this car for anywhere near $30,000 in this condition I’d be lining up for one right now.
Nakamura Engineering is one of Japan’s most well regarded Ferrari tuning and maintenance shops. We’ve featured them on this blog before, but this latest picture of their 308 GTO is one of the cleanest and best cars I’ve seen lately. You totally forget that the car is 30 years old looking at this picture!
I’ll be posting some more on Nakamura Racing soon…

TeamGOAT Flagstaff to Albuquerque
TeamGOAT
Day 2 of the Route 66 2010 Rally started off a little late! We didn’t leave the hotel until close to 10:30 this morning! During the night, the pranks started! We’ll admit, TeamGOAT Post-it’d TeamEvoX, with some assistance. We then moved on to TeamSlowBra with streamers! By the time we woke up this morning, two other cars had been T-P’d, including our GTO. It’s all fun and games and I’m extremely happy to know that everyone has the same respect for each other’s cars.
Our first checkpoint was the La Posada Hotel in Winslow, Arizona. The hotel was gorgeous, considering the town we drove through to get to it! It was great to actually cruise with more than our original convoy was only 3 other teams beside ourselves. Today we had the entire group minus 3. The walkie talkie’s were quite busy.

TeamGOAT – Fontana to Flagstaff
TeamGOAT
We got to Fontana close to 8:00 am. There were probably about four teams already there! We waited until 9:00 for the last teams to arrive, with a total of 14 teams! TeamGOAT has an inflatable goat which we had everyone sign. I also made some breast cancer ribbons which I handed out to each member of the teams that were there. I will hand out the rest once we hit Amarillo! We all picked our started numbers that are on some pretty bad ass key chains. We then lined up and got ready to go! TeamGOAT headed out of Fontana at 9:28 this morning!

Call me Q
By David Clarke
highspeedhijinks
No matter how many times I’ve seen it done in the movies, or crudely done on Mythbusters, I still think life-size remote control cars are cool. Apparently, one person out there is even smart enough to build one without being funded by a military contract or production company. That person is Dave Phipps. Dave is the kind of guy who has his irons in two fires–he’s an electronics whiz and a car nut. So when Dave bought this 1969 GTO convertible for $400 25 years ago, he saw a clean slate to combine the best of both worlds. Using a wireless controller called “Redeye” synced to his iPod Touch, Dave is capable controlling all sorts of functions on his GTO: he can fire up the ignition, rev the 428ci engine, open the servo-actuated doors and trunk, roll down the power windows, put the convertible top down, adjust the radio settings, and arm his car alarm. Sadly, steering and braking aren’t yet on list, but give this guy time, I’m sure it’s coming soon. For more of the details and a video on how this all works, Ben at Jalopnik has you covered.

Driving the ’70 GTO
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
For me, a car’s most important quality is the way it makes you feel when you jump behind the wheel. It’s something that goes beyond acceleration figures, chassis design, and the quality of the parts. Sure those things are important, but it’s that connection between man’s feelings and the machine that defines a great car. Many cars can trigger those feelings, whether it’s a high dollar exotic, a simple Japanese sports car, or a home-built race car. But what about an American muscle car? Now a lot of people might see muscle cars as wasteful, hulking, barbaric, sloppy machines – and maybe they are. But that’s what makes them so great. Continue reading at Speehunters

Pro-Street Goat

Here’s another choice pick from the Optima Invitational lineup: this ’65 Pontiac convertible. I was so happy to see the vintage Poncho done out as a street-legal track car, because my father has one just like it–a ’65 Le Mans that’s been sitting in storage for a few years. I’d love to build it just like this to run in One Lap of America, and it’s very cool to see that such a build is not only possible, but feasible. See more pics below the jump, and check out my Optima Invitational fly-by video for a glimpse of some of the other competitors!

Hemmings Find of the Day: NASCAR GTO
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
On first blush, you’d think some hillbilly down South found a GTO rusted up to its doorsills and decided to live out his Ricky Bobby fantasies by cutting out the wheelwells and stuffing wide tires underneath. But the seller of this 1966 GTO out of La Jolla, California, claims it has actual race history. Continue reading at Hemmings
