Even though we’re closer to Christmas than Halloween, I totally had to post this awesome clip.  Is this the best use of a right hand drive car ever?  I think it might be…

CarDomain Pumpkin Carving Contest Winners!

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

There sure were some incredible entries in our first-ever CarDomain Pumpkin Carving Contest. Hot damn, you guys sure are good with tiny little knives! The contest is now closed, and because there were just too many awesome pumpkins for us to pick a single winner, we’ve decided to award a couple of runners-up as well, who will each receive a CarDomain beanie for their efforts.

Overall winner: Paul’s Trans Am pumpkin! As one of the commenters said, it’s like a photograph. The depth and detail makes the Firebird really pop, and the lettering is great too. Paul gets a CarDomain tee-shirt and beanie!

Runner-up #1: Aydar’s "Pumped Smart." You’re not even going to believe this insane smart-car pumpkin "build." CUBE is famous for clever photos involving his smart, but he takes it to a whole different level for the contest!

Runner-up #2: Eli’s Dodge Stealth pumpkin. Nicely rendered, beautiful shading. I wish I had the skills!

Congrats to all on some absolutely fantastic pumpkin carving, and thanks to all for participating in the most car-crazy carving contest on the net. See the runners up and honorable mentions below the jump—each pic links to the carver’s ride page. There were also a selection of logo pumpkins which can be viewed in the comments of the original contest post. Happy Halloween!

Scary Smarts

By Jen Dunnaway

So, a bunch of smart owners got together and actually dressed up their tiny rides in costume for Halloween. Something about the whole scene kind of reminds me of people who dress up their dogs for the occasion, but hey—it takes all kinds, right? Check out some of the best (or worst) smarts in costume below the jump, and browse the whole wacky gallery at the Smart Car of America forum.

The CarDomain Pumpkin Carving Contest

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

The whole car-themed pumpkin thing is really catching on—first Challengers, then Porsches, and then just this morning I found this pic of Matt’s Mitsubishi 3000GT in jack o’ lantern form on CarDomain. Think you can top it? Carve a likeness of your car (or any car) into a pumpkin, take a picture, throw it on your ride page, and then link to your ride page in the comments. You have until Friday at noon to show us your best CarDomain pumpkin, and at that time we’ll pick a winner who will receive a CarDomain tshirt and warm fuzzy beanie. Happy carving!

Extreme Porsche Pumpkin Carving

By 993C4S

Porsche Purist

Looking back it seemed like a good idea, maybe even a great idea. Now, I’m not so sure. I’ll let you be the judge. I was surfing around the other day and saw Jen’s post on the Challenger pumkin. I thought, hmmmm, I wonder if I could do that with a Porsche? Man of action that I am, I fired off a quick email to Paul Chenard asking if he could put something together for me. Paul responded almost instantly saying “no problem,” and a couple hours later the design below arrived in my mailbox. Continue reading…

Carve A Challenger Pumpkin!

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

I’ve been thinking a lot about pumpkins lately—since I used to grow them, by Halloween I’d usually have more of them than I’d know what to do with. But this year, I’ve found myself bereft of both pumpkins and ideas for carving them. That is, until Rob came across this Challenger carving template—check it out, it "comes fully ghast"! Digging a little deeper, I also found this Dodge Ram template for you truck fans. Click the links to get the full-size templates that you can attach directly to your pumpkins, but be careful, they’re .pdf’s. You can also get the accompanying instructions here to idiot-proof your carving session. Enjoy!

How about you—got any cool car-themed pumpkin ideas for this year?
