By Jen Dunnaway

Brown with a brown vinyl top: I think I’m in love. And with barely 30,000 miles on the AMC 304–’79 was the last year for V8′s in the Concords–you can bet it still gets up and moves a little bit. See more views at Hemmings Classifieds. Via Brown Car Appreciation Society.

Hemmings Find of the Day: AMC Matador Coupe
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
The Matador coupe is one of those 1970s love-it-or-hate-it designs, perhaps even more polarizing than the Gremlin, Pacer, Vega and Pinto. It’s, of course, the bug-eyed Colonnade-like design that makes it so: After all, the coupe generates way more comments than the more conservative Matador sedan. This 1977 AMC Matador coupe, one of the desirable Barcelona editions, looks from the photos to be a well-preserved example. From the seller’s description:
Only 45,737 miles on this rare AMC!! – An exceptionally clean, well cared for luxury Matador – Equipped with the 360 V8 – Automatic Transmission – Power Steering – Power Disc Brakes – Cold Factory A/C – AM/FM Radio – Cruise Control – Vinyl Top – Twin Grip Differential, and Turbine Styled Wheels – Classic Black w/ Pillow Tufted Camel interior – A real Head Turner!

Rare Pierce to Grace Pebble Beach
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
Heading to Pebble Beach this Sunday? This just in: An original, unrestored 1908 Pierce Great Arrow–from Natural History Museum’s Gardena, California, facility–has been selected to appear at the August 15 Concours d’Elegance. After the concours, this one-of-a-kind Pierce will be returned to the Gardena facility, which until now has been closed to the public. If you can’t get to Pebble to view the Pierce Arrow, there’s good news: The museum will opens its doors in October for monthly “behind the scenes tours.” This means that visitors will also be able to catch a glimpse of more than 75 other vehicles within the collection, including a 1932 Duesenberg, 1917 Woods Dual Power Coupe gas-electric hybrid and a Helms Bakery van, as well as a 1909 Case steam traction engine. Great News: Stolen Corvette and Camaro Returned
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
When we brought you news last week of the Miner family’s two stolen cars, the response was nearly overwhelming, with much of the country going on immediate lookout for the 1966 Corvette convertible and 1969 Camaro SS clone. As it turns out, the two Chevrolets didn’t get very far before both were recovered and returned to Erik Miner’s father, but we imagine it was the readiness of the Hemmings Nation army to see the cars home safe and sound that kept the thieves from parting the cars out or shipping them overseas. From the owner’s email:
“While we don’t have many details at this time, the Corvette was located at a remote location in the woods with the only access through a farm gate and through a hay field.
Ken has not been able to inspect the Corvette in detail, as the police have not processed the car. On first impression there appears to be limited damage. The Camaro is another story…”

Hemmings Find Of The Day: 1978 Pontiac Trans Am
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
Y’know, there just aren’t many instances of a car company taking advantage of pop culture promotion of its cars like the Bandit Trans Am. Off the top of my head, all I can think of are the Graduate Alfa Romeo Spiders and the recent Bumblebee Camaros. Anyway, this 1978 Pontiac Trans Am for sale on Hemmings.com looks from the photos to be an excellent example of the Y82 Special Edition. From the seller’s description:

Hemmings Find of the Day: 1974 Jensen Interceptor
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
It’s funny how the right paint scheme can shift your perception of a car you’re already familiar with. Take, for instance, this 1974 Jensen Interceptor, with its nifty two-tone paint that certainly helps the car look more like an American muscle car than most Interceptors. From the seller’s description:
1974 Jensen Interceptor 3, Orig.Cond. 46K miles. This is one of the most amazing cars driven in America. The best of three worlds…Handmade in West Bromwich, England…Designed by Italian body designer in the late 1960’s…Powered by the factory with an American Chrysler 440 muscle engine! These current car photos are an accurate portrait of her fine condition. The paint on this car is awesome! The leather interior is in incredible shape. The air conditioning blows cold and this is a reliable, exotic, mega collectible, that is so unique, it is a show stopper and a jaw dropper every time! No rust whatsoever, stored at a private home and garaged, shielded from the intense sun and nice and dry without moisture.

Boulevard Bruiser En Espanol
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
Here in los Estados Unidos, I don’t think we cared enough about the Dodge Dart to warrant coachbuilt versions of it. Special versions abounded over the years to move that metal–Demon, Swinger, Hang Ten–but those didn’t require substantial alterations to the basic design of the car.
Over in Spain, however, they viewed the Dart in a different light. To get around the protectionist rules preventing the export of cars to Spain, Chrysler formed an agreement with Barreiros Diesel, a Madrid-based truck and engine builder, to build the Dodge Dart in Spain. Starting in 1965, Chrysler would supply the Darts as knockdown kits, and Barreiros would assemble and market them. With its slant six engine, the Dart would quickly become a premium car in Spain, leaving the mass market to the Simca 1000. By 1971, Barreiros introduced several alterations to the car, including an optional diesel engine and cosmetic modifications, and even dropped the Dart name, instead calling it the 3700. Bentley With Patina on Hemmings
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
Hey, now anyone can own a Bentley. As long as you’re not squeamish about a bit of paint peel and a few species of molds and lichens. I’d like to see what Blake and his crew at NorthWest Auto Salon could do with that finish, though I’d also be tempted to leave it ratty. It’s a relic, after all! $6950 on Hemmings Classifieds.

Hemmings Find of the Day: 1994 Ford Powerstroke Concept Truck
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
Dodge? Ranger? Escort? Homebuilt eye fryer? None of the above: Though it looks like it’s been through the hands of one capable Barris-type customizer and one 18-year-old kid with a Pep Boys charge account, it’s actually a diesel-powered Ford concept truck. Thankfully, Ford didn’t go with the kissy-lips design language for the rest of its Ford truck lineup (can you just imagine that bumper/grille in red?). In the pictures, it appears to have held up much better than many other concept vehicles from that era, and is likely a running, driving truck. Read more at Hemmings.
