The HIN season finale was one of the hottest shows of the year, and Juha Lievonen took some great pics for us. Check ‘em out!

This weekend is the HIN season finale in Miami Beach. It’s also the last car show we will cover on CarDomain for 2008. How did you like our event coverage this year? What can we do to improve it next year?

A bunch of Formula D cars turned up at Seattle HIN last weekend, in town for the big Formula D event in Monroe on Saturday. I’ll be going out to Evergreen Speedway later today to hang out with Bob and the Drift Office crew. And of course we’ll have full coverage from Saturday in our Events section early next week, so stay tuned for more pics from the track.

Hot Import Nights kicked off its 2008 season in Los Angeles over the weekend, and CarDomain sent Larry Chen to cover the action. Of course, there were a ton of killer rides and gaggles of models, but this was the first time I’ve ever seen mannequins posed next to some of the rides. Seriously, what’s the deal? Is this the JDM equivalent of those creepy little kid dolls that pop up at domestic car shows? And is this a new thing, or have I just missed it somehow? Anyway, enjoy the pics!

The pictures from these events came out awesome. Of course, the cars from DUB look stunning, but even the images from the normally impossible to shoot HIN look great! Hey everybody! I know that on the weekends, CarDomain members are always checking out car shows, so I wanted to let you know about a couple of events that I’m looking for photos from. Hot August Nights down in Reno is at the top of my list, along with HIN: Nightshift over in Chicago and Formula D: Fastest in the Circuit in sunny Sonoma, CA. I’d also love to get some shots from next weekend’s Monterey Historic Races, so if you’re planning to go, make sure to take lots of pics! Going to Hot Import Nights is always a blast—unless you’re afraid of the dark, that is. Seriously, what’s the deal with the ultra low light at these shows? I mean, I don’t need it to feel like Fred Meyer or anything, but it was so dim in there I bumped into like three different models! It was just awful, I mean, they were barely wearing any clothes! But hey, somebody has to put themselves out there. Anyway, for those gearheads who didn’t spend the whole time gawking at the ladies, there was plenty of automotive eye-candy. I really liked this this totally trick NSX—I think the orange paint looks fantastic—but my personal favorite was this little white Lotus. Don’t get me wrong, though I love the stripped-to-the-tub look of the other ones I’ve seen, I think the Aston Martin-style quilted seats look seriously wicked. But this doesn’t strike me as an option that an extraordinarily weight-conscious marque like Lotus would offer, so I’m guessing it’s an aftermarket treatment. Am I wrong? All in all, it was a great show.
