HKS and Taniguchi have for years been a winning combination, setting records wherever they go. Time attack has always helped push the tuning envelope further, as extreme parts and modifications eventually trickle down and are able to be used on street applications. Do you ever find yourself wondering what happens to a company’s race cars and tuner cars after their services are no longer needed? Sometimes they will wind up in the hands of private buyers (often overseas), in other cases they will be destroyed or dismantled, and every once in a while they’ll be preserved or displayed as part of the company’s heritage. In its 35+ years of existence, HKS has built dozens of these historic competition and street vehicles, and a number of them are kept on display in a special room at the sprawling HKS factory in Fujinomiya City, Japan.

HKS-Tuned Hyundai Genesis to Debut at SEMA!

Hyundai isn’t messing around with the new Genesis Coupe, and the car’s reveal at the New York Auto Show was complete with live music, fireworks, and stunt drivers spinning donuts. But as cool as the new 2+2 may be in stock trim, with a rear-wheel drive platform and an available 300 horsepower V6, this baby is just begging to be tuned. So Hyundai has partnered with aftermarket performance company HKS to show just how much potential the Genesis has. No horsepower figures are available, but the SEMA car will feature a burlier turbo and internals, a fully adjustable suspension, and some sexy new bodywork. We’ll make sure to get plenty of pics when we’re in Vegas for the show, but for now, check out the full press release after the jump.
