The Ultimate Guide To Parking Wherever The Hell You Want

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

Jalopnik is running this pretty hilarious how to about getting away with parking like a total jerk, and it’s pretty timely for those of us who just moved to Fremont. I agree with most of their advice, especially this one: if you’re going to park where you want, you’ve got to accept the occasional ticket. Cost of doing business, right? I used to have this awesome secret “Visitor Parking” space on my campus, tucked under a suspension footbridge, a 2-minute walk to my office. The 1 hour limit never got enforced because the parking cowboys were too lazy to get themselves  all the way over to that end of the gorge. Hey, if they got me maybe once or twice per semester with a 20-dollar ticket, it sure beat the hell out of paying hundreds of dollars a year for the privilege of parking in the godforsaken B-lot, 4 miles from the nearest university-owned building.

How about you–how do you score a sweet parking space while all the other chumps just circle the block?

Tramontana R

By Rob Einaudi

My buddy Ben over at Jalopnik thinks this thing is ugly. I think it’s hilarious and kind of cool, too. Motivation comes from a NA 550 hp or twin-turbocharged 760 hp Mercedes V12. They’re gonna build a dozen per year and it’s priced around $500k. So what do you think? Hot or not?

Hater Fodder: The CorZonda

By Ben Schaffer

The Real JDM

First off, I must give props to Jalopnik for amusing me greatly with their “Doing It Wrong V3″. This picture I took from their gallery, which contains other examples of tragic/comedic greatness.

For my chosen example (due to my love of Pagani and their Zonda), I’ve selected what I dub the CorZonda. Although the owner was creative in achieving what he did with the rear of the car, it is a complete disaster from my eyes. Here’s some food for the haters… I present you with the CorZonda.

The Hack Car

A Jalopnik reader spotted this mean Mopar on the streets of San Francisco and snapped some pics with his iPhone. The flat back with mesh ’73 Satellite appeared on the cover of Information Society’s album “Hack” back in 1990. More at Jalopnik

I guess this was shot in Portland, where they are almost as lame as we are here in Seattle. The Benny Hill music is perfect. Via Jalopnik

British Soccer Player Wrecks Ferrari 599

Sounds like Cristiano Ronaldo was showing off for his teamate, who was following behind, and slammed into a wall in a tunnel near Manchester. Really sad for this beautiful car, but Ronaldo was unscathed. More pics at Jalopnik

Nuts!

First the turn signals and windshield wipers went out. Then one day the owner went to start it up and the engine immediately got stuck at WOT. Finally she thought to pop the hood. Low and behold… Damn chipmunks! Via Jalopnik

Ford Fusion Hybrid Gets 43.8 MPG!

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

The Jalopnik guys just managed to get 43.8 MPG in the new 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid. Nice work Ford! That’s significantly better mileage than the Camry hybrid. I had a 2008 Fusion V6 rental car down in California last month and though it was great. And Mr. Angry is another big fan of the Fusion. I think Ford might have a hit on their hands when this new hybrid hits the showrooms early next year.
