Top Ten Vehicles That Need to Come Back
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Most of these vehicles should never have disappeared in the first place, but all of them need to come back. Now. Let me know what you think of my list. What did I miss?
Ford Bronco
I really don’t know what Ford is waiting for. Seems like a no brainer to me.
See the rest after the jump!

The New Jeep Grand Cherokee Ad Is Hot

…and its messaging just seems more believable somehow than Toyota’s dubious made-in-America claims. Maybe it’s the Johnny Cash soundtrack.

Does Jeep Have a Winner with the 2011 Grand Cherokee?
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
I’d say Jeep did a great job with the styling and I’ve been reading very positive reviews at Autoblog and Cars.com. The configurator is now live at Jeep.com and it looks like pricing is actually a tad lower than the outgoing model, despite the fact that they’ve added features. So what do you guys think? Chrysler definitely needs a win right now…

When I took our Challenger press car down the Oregon coast, I was scared to drive it out on the beach. The only car I’d ever driven out to the surf was my unstoppable AMC Eagle, and I was convinced that an overpowered rwd muscle car, by contrast, would just spin its wheels into a rut and then the tide would come in and take it away from me before I could get it unstuck. When you drive something like Mike’s Grand Cherokee, such fears need not occur to you. Check out more wheelin’ pics on his ride page!

Mitsubishi Jeep Manufacturing Bonanza
By Mike Bumbeck
Clunkbucket
A never-ending search for a survivor first-gen Dodge D50-Plymouth Arrow Sport pickup truck combined with creative keywording of a local classified advertisements has unearthed another sort of captive import. Like the Dodge and Plymouth pickups, this 1974 Jeep is actually a Mitsubishi. Technically a Mitsubishi H-J58, the Mitsu-Jeep is a very near clone of its Willys cousin Jeep CJ3B. Mitsubishi manufactured all sorts of Jeeps under license from the Willys Jeep Corporation from 1953 to 1998–a 45-year run! Under the hood of this ’74 model is an early 2000 cc gasoline version of the mighty Astron series of Mitsubishi engines. The 4G52 cranks two or four wheels, and ran like a champ when we went to take a ride in the Mitsu-Jeep with current owner Steve Kopito over in Chatsworth, California. Steve is the proprietor of Owens Export Service, which has exported boatloads of American Jeeps worldwide, and imported quite a few Japanese automobiles back stateside. More on the Mitsu-Jeep along with a boatload of pictures over at Clunkbucket!

NYIAS: Jeep Wrangler Rubicon in Manhattan

Jeep set up this little fun park ride outside of Javits. I was hoping I’d get to drive but no such luck. Still, I had fun talking to the driver while Naderi snapped photos. More pics and a video after the jump!

Army Jeep?
Bick66
Last Saturday while out driving, I saw this Jeep Comanche in a parking lot and couldn’t help but flip a quick U-turn to get a closer look. Having spent 8 years in the US Army myself, I have to give this Jeep some credit. I’m impressed with how closely this rig resembles the 80′s GM trucks still in use by the military when I joined in the late 90′s. From olive drab paint to the blacked-out wheels, this Comanche brings back memories. The fuel can was missing, but the Army-style hand-sprayed yellow letters, warning labels, and water can add to its authenticity. As far as I know, the only Comanche ever commissioned by the Army is a badass helicopter–but this little one looks more than ready to serve. See additional pics after the jump!
