Focamino

Here’s today’s hilarious hack: a crooked diamond-plate pickup bed grafted onto the back of a Ford Focus. What do you suppose the payload is for this baby? The 5.0 badges are a nice touch. One more pic after the jump, via VWVortex’s epic You’re Doing it Wrong thread.

Which of Your Cars Is Most Likely To Get Ticketed?
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
Forbes has released a list of cars most likely to get a ticketed, and while many of the candidates aren’t surprising at all (Hummer H2, VW GTI, Grand Prix, AMG Mercedes) the red-Corvette stereotype does not seem to hold true at all. Still, what’s with all the Toyota products that made the list? In any case, it’s no big surprise that what car you drive has an effect on how you’re treated by the cops, and how much of a dick you are in any particular vehicle probably factors in, too. I tend to get harassed by cops the most in my AMC Eagle, I think because it’s loud and kind of jacked-looking. Due to its stance and the way it lunges around, you can’t help but look like you’re driving it aggressively even when you’re not, and it’s got the dirtball-appeal that makes cops double-check for anything that might be amiss.
How about you? Do you tend to get more grief from the cops in any one vehicle more than the others? See the complete Forbes list here.

Pro Street Pace Car Mustang: Best of Both Worlds
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
The marriage of two awesome things–it’s like peanut butter and chocolate, only in car form. This ’79 Mustang is running a 429 big block through a shift-kitted C6 trans and 4:10 rear gears, and though it might not be the most practical transportation, it’s totally street legal. Check out the auction on eBay.
Epic Bike Wreck
By Jen Dunnaway

In case you’re one of those people who always complains, “well that’s x minutes of my life I’m never going to get back,” I’m going to warn you: a hellacious wreck, and then a whole lot of nothing, happens in this video. But you kind of have to admire the guy for staying with the remains of his bike despite all the chaos around him.

Crochet-Covered Morris Minor for Sale on eBay
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
The car is salvage from a New York City art exhibition wherein the creator set up a living environment entirely covered in crochet–an apartment that looks like it’s inhabited by a schizophrenic grandma, with the Minor parked out front. The eBay auction, stalled at time of writing with only one 500-dollar bid, might be a little more successful if the seller gave some indication of the condition of the car. Is it a straight running Minor that’s just been covered with a giant tea-cozy, or has it been more permanently disabled? The only clue in the ad is an ominous reference to “plaster sculpture” in the car’s construction. But that could mean anything, right? Check out the action here.
Airbag vs. Pumpkin
By Jen Dunnaway

Airbags are an important safety development that have saved millions of lives, blah blah blah. And sure, the technology has come a long way since the jaw-busting jiffy pops of the 90′s. But you know what? I still don’t trust the darn things. And this video doesn’t help. But that last slow-mo is pretty cool, yeah? Via ThatWillBuffOut.

Cult Widebody Challenger Will Appear At SEMA
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
I think there have possibly been some better widebody efforts with the Challenger, but damn, there’s something about a black car with red headlights. Too bad they’re not street legal. Like anywhere. This supercharged SRT8 was supposed to have been on the cover of duPont Registry’s Buyers’ Guide, but the feature was called off before publication without explanation–and as of time of writing, there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of photodocumentation for it besides the admittedly awesome official shots at Webb Bland. So does it exist? We’ll be sure to be looking for it at the SEMA show.
