Bored at Work? Try This!
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
Check out this choose-your-own-ending style video from Hot Wheels. The coolest part about this is that Hot Wheels is actually selling the cars from the video. Mmmm, so modular. Makes us want to dust off our old orange tracks and use them for something more than just beating the crap out of our younger brother. Check out the Hot Wheels site for more info or shop for original Redline Hot Wheels.

Field Trip: Driving the ICON FJ!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
It’s no secret that the StreetFire crew is filled with off-road newbies, but ICON’s Jonathan Ward is so confident in their $100K FJ recreations he invited us up to Frazier Park to thrash on them anyway. I didn’t get to go—somebody has to be in the office to take out the trash and answer the phones—but Naderi made it, and he brought back footage. Mike Levin from PickupTrucks.com and Johnny Lieberman from Jalopnik were also on hand, and after they got to drive these insane 4x4s, they shared their thoughts. Next time we get offered a chance like this, I’m going to let the phones go to voice mail and the trash pile up…

Joon Maeng to Drift Bergenholtz Racing RX-8, Full Tilt Poker Title Sponsor
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
The Formula Drift silly season is in full swing and Bergenholtz Racing made some big moves ahead of the 2010 FD championship chase. First the famed Bergenholtz brothers parted ways with Justin Pawlak (recently confirmed to drive a 2010 Mustang for Falken Tire. Then they announced Joon Maeng as their new driver. The cherry on top of this NT05 smoke-filled sundae was the unveiling of their RX-8. Yes, it’s the same car, but for 2010 Full Tilt Poker has signed on as the team’s title sponsor. Hit the jump to see a video from the unveil by Bill Wood as well as some of the changes to the car and how Joon thinks he’ll fare in the switch from S chassis to RX.

Mega Matsuri Photos Live
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
Mainstream Productions, the creators of Import Showoff, presented the Mega Matsuri on August 22nd in collaboration with the Nisei Week Festival in Downtown LA’s Little Tokyo district. You might be wondering what, exactly, is a Mega Matusuri? Matsuri is Japanese for “Festival” and is derived from a verb which means to attend to or to entertain. And mega is, uh, mega. The intent of the show to add a street culture twist to the standard car show fare with such features as a Best Offset contest, JDM garage sale, Ruckus Display and a “Lifestyle Alley” where trendy hipsters could buy street wear and fixed gear bikes and accessories. Sadly, the cars and the crowds never materialized giving the event more of a “Mini” Matsuri kind of feel. Get to clickety clacking on the gallery images to see some of the cars of Mega Matsuri.

Ken Block Tried to Kill Me – 3X!!
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
Ken Block is the creator of the DC Shoes empire and a Rally America championship stud. But he’s best known as that heel toe god among us match-rev challenged mortals who pulled the Segue donut in that gymkhana practice video that has been straining the bandwidth of the entire interweb with some 20 million-plus streams to date. And earlier this week Ken Block tried to kill me – on three separate occasions! Get to jumping to read how.

John and Ricky went to check out the BMW art cars at the LA County Museum of Art, and had different opinions about what they saw. I think I’m with Ricky on this one.

Rice Boyz Find a Home at Streetfire
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
In November the backers of RiceBoyTV and CarJunkieTV pulled the plug on those sites, which sucked, cause they were both doing some great stuff. David Freiburger (former Ed-in-Chief of Hot Rod and Car Craft) wasted no time in setting up a new site, Freiburger’s Junkyard, and he’s been super cool about sharing his blogs over here. Well now John Naderi (former Editor-in-Chief of Super Street) and his crew have landed a gig over at Streetfire. I’m sure they’re planning some hilarious stuff, so stay tuned…
