Hot Rides At The Knight Rider Shoot!
By Jen Dunnaway

CarDomain member MoparRob07 was one of those who entered his car for the Fast and Furious casting call we ran in the blog earlier this year. Though his gorgeous Daytona Charger didn’t make the final cut for that film, our friends at Rich King Casting were so impressed by his ride that they called him back many months later to offer the car a role in the new Knight Rider TV series! Last week they went out to the California desert for some filming, and Rob got a bunch of cool spy shots. Even the "Attack Mode" KITT that Dave blogged last week was in attendance. Check out the very bottom of Page 3 of Rob’s ride page for all the pics!

New "Attack Mode" KITT
By David
aka Highspeedhijinks
The 2008 Comic-Con wrapped up this past weekend, and it was there that the new KITT "attack mode" was revealed to the horde of superfans in attendance. Later it was announced that it was voted "Best Vehicle" of Comic-Con, taking the crown against Bond’s DBS and a GI Joe digging contraption.
Personally, I think this thing looks like a bunch of different race cars thrown together and it makes for one confused-looking KITT. The crazy polished blower scoop and rear tires look to have been yanked from an NHRA dragster. The "Car of Tomorrow" chin spoiler and side dump exhaust show signs of NASCAR influence. Then there’s the lambo doors and side scoops that were probably stolen off the set of Fast and Furious. Follow it up with some Bonneville Salt Flats racer wheels and you’ve got a car that might be able to do 377 mph in a straight line, but it sure as hell isn’t turning.
Clearly KITT has come a long way from the old "super pursuit mode," but I can’t help thinking it’s a bit of overkill. What do you think? Am I taking a fictional car too seriously or is this car really just too silly for your average TV action-drama? See more pics after the jump, and a ton more Comic-Con coverage at Knight Rider Online.

Knight Rider Series Preview
By John Coyle
Editor
When NBC aired the new Knight Rider movie back in February, the line was that it was going to gauge reaction and then make a decision about whether to continue the franchise as a series. Well, the brass must have liked the numbers they saw, because the new show is set to premier September 24th. Among blog readers, reaction to the movie was decidedly mixed, and while I think there are some cheesy elements present in the clip below, it still looks pretty cool. What do you think?

Knight Rider: The People Have Spoken
By John

Nobody has been shy in regard to their feelings about the new Knight Rider, but there haven’t been too many surprises. Of all the comments I read, I have to say I liked Oafman’s best:
I for one enjoyed the pilot. The original show was cheesy and had bad acting so if I hold this new Knight Rider to the same standards as the original it meets expectations. As to the hassle about the car… Anti Mustang people get over yourselves. I have yet to see a well reasoned argument against using a Mustang. (If you really want to know I personally would never drive a Ford again but I am not going to knock the show just because of the make of the car).
One thing I’d bet we can all agree on? This series of outtakes from the original show is funnier than anything in the remake. There’s a little bit of strong languagebut probably nothing you haven’t heard out in the garage. Enjoy.

Wicked KITT Replica!
By John

When fans of the original Knight Rider series found out the new KITT was going to be a Mustang, many weren’t pleased. Fortunately for them, the withering reviews Sunday’s movie got would seem to insure that Knight Rider won’t return as weekly series, and that most people will remember KITT as a Firebird. Personally, I don’t think we’ll ever see new Mustangs transformed like this one the guys from Tuner’s Dream found up in Ontario. Check out that interior! Is that impressive or what?

New Knight Rider: Hot or Not?
By John

Nobody from CarDomain turned on Knight Rider thinking it was going to be the greatest show ever filmedwhich is fortunate. Sean was bothered by the fact that the baddies get a perfect look at Michael and Sarah when they’re driving in front of the casino, but don’t seem to notice, and I found the wooden quality of the acting kind of distracting. The ending also felt rushed, like the director was bored and just wanted to finish up shooting, and the Hoff’s cameo was pretty painful. But overall, it was kind of fun to watch. What did you think? And do you think Knight Rider will come back as a series?

Knight Rider Movie Premiers Sunday
By John
Editor
This is easily the best Knight Rider commercial yet. The part where the truck t-bones KITT and he doesn’t even flinch? Two words: bad and ass. So I’m actually kind of stoked to see the movie on Sunday. Sure, it’s not going to be the greatest thing ever committed to film, but I’m figuring that after a couple of beers, it’ll be a blast to watch. Honestly? I just hope the Hoff makes a cameo, and that there’s some mentionlike, any, mentionof KITT’s evil twin, KARR. Otherwise, I don’t really care what happens. What do you want to see? And do you think NBC will actually make Knight Rider into a weekly series?

Val Kilmer Will Be The New KITT
By David
aka Highspeedhijinks
In a surprising turn of events, Will Arnett is out as the voice of KITT. The former Arrested Development star is known in the industry for his voice-over work, particularly in GMC trucks advertisements. This creates a bit of awkwardness, due to the fact that the Knight Rider movie and series are both sponsored by Ford. It’s also a serious problem for NBC, since the made-for-TV movie airs in just 9 days on February 17th! Not to fear though, Batman will save the day: KITT will be voiced by none other than Val Kilmer. The fans over at the Knight Rider Online forum still aren’t happy, though. They want the 81-year-old Will Daniels (the original voice of KITT) to make his TV comeback! If they’re changing the car, does it really matter if they use another voice?

KITT's Optional Equipment

Sure, I’m down with the nano-tech enhanced camouflage, the on-the-go access to military satellite data and the regeneration capabilities, but what about seat warmers? Or a power moon roof? Or iPod integration? I have a feeling you’re going to have to pay out the nose for those features.
