Lamborghini Monday: My "Other" Car Is…

By Jen Dunnaway

When you’re coming down from a 130-mph run in a Gallardo, maybe it’s not the best time to fill out a survey. Call me giddy, but the questionnaire we were given after our Lambo road tests on Monday cracked me the hell up. The query "Which cars do you currently own?" only offered checkbox options for Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari, Maserati, Mercedes AMG (regular old Mercedes didn’t make the list, take note), Porsche, and (ahem) "Other." Okay, I get that you have to be rich to buy a Lambo—after a down payment of 25 grand on one of these babies, you’re still smacked with a $3500/month car payment, not to mention insurance and maintenance costs—but damn, that’s the most disdainful set of scare quotes I’ve ever seen around a word! "Other." I couldn’t help but laugh and feel like a poor dirtball as I prattled on about my Escorts and my Eagle after listing them under the despised category. A close second was question 20, "Your current occupation." You get to choose from Professional, Managing Director or Senior Company Director, Entrepreneur, Athlete, or Artist. What, no Rock Star? I guess that goes under Artist, but come on. More pics after the jump, and check out our blogs on the drive here and here and here!

SoundDomain Sound-Off

  • I took my first driver’s license test over 15 years ago and I still remember every gruesome minute. I actually did fairly well, but I did lose points for driving too cautious and slow! Boy have I proved them wrong since then! And so did the kid in this video. Johnny punked five driving instructors by taking them for one of the worst drives of their life!
  • This wouldn’t be a proper SoundDomain Sound-Off without a mention of the Master of Bass, Steve Meade. Watch him school a few new victims in the science of SPL.
  • Photoshop FAIL! Looks like this big box retailer needs to send their Photoshop pros back to school or at least hire their car audio installers to build an actual custom install for their Sunday circular ad….
  • There’s no better place to live than the good ‘ol USA. Unless you want these sweet Harman Kardon amplifiers in your car.
  • Team SoundDomain’s Robert Petty looked at many different radios closely before deciding on the Alpine IVA-W205 for his SQ competition car, and here’s why. Hop over to SoundDomain for a break down on this impressive multimedia navigation-capable radio.
  • JVC and Danny Klein (Yep the same Lotus Exige S-driving Danny Klein from Bull Run glory) put together a pretty steamy music video to celebrate some of the cool features in the new JVC Kameleon source units. Wow.
  • Yep, you can hate me too. I got to drive Lambos. But day before I was working on my GTI project car and made some solid progress in the hatch area.  What’d you do this weekend?

So You Knew Lamborghini Started With Tractors…

By John Coyle

And that’s good. Because, like, everyone knows that. But seriously, did you know Lamborghini made engines for racing boats? Because I didn’t. Not until I talked with some of the good folks from Lamborghini Bellevue yesterday. The eight-liter V12s the company made apparently kicked serious ass—like that’s a surprise—and are absolutely gorgeous to boot. Check out some classic pics after the jump, and make sure to read this cool post on the history of swimming Lambos.

Lamborghini Monday: A Total Blast!

By John Coyle

Let’s just state the obvious right away: there are far, far worse ways to start your week than getting to drive an Italian supercar through gorgeous Washington country. This wasn’t the first time I’ve driven a Gallardo, but seriously, if I ever get to be a point where hopping behind the wheel of one of these babies doesn’t make me feel like a little kid on Christmas morning, I will know I’m dead inside, and should seek help. Without a doubt, nailing the gas and hearing the Lambo’s 520 horsepower V10 wind up is easily one of the most exhilarating experiences I’ve ever had—like, ever—and seriously, I wish everyone could try it.

Lamborghini Monday: Getting A Feel For the Gallardo

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

Ok, I ain’t gonna lie: for me, one of the biggest attractions of Lamborghini Monday was getting my Escort out on the open highway to break in my new carb. To meet our shiny new test cars, we drove to Snoqualmie, up in the mountains about a half-hour outside of Seattle. And it wasn’t long before I found there were plenty of other diversions besides Mr. Weber. More…

So Far Beyond Cool, It's Stupid: Lamborghini Monday!

By John Coyle

Editor

Generally, Mondays aren’t something I look forward to. But right now, I’d be happy to skip my entire weekend. Why exactly? Well, this Monday, Lamborghini Bellevue has invited the CarDomain editorial team to "experience the 5.0-liter V10 engine as it roars along a backdrop of dramaticfalls, granite peaks and towering forests." Yup, that’s right, we’re going to go drive Lambos—for work! Can you say "hell yes?" And can you say it so loud it makes your throat hurt and your ears bleed? Because that’s what I’m doing! I mean, Lamborghini Monday makes Taco Tuesday and even the mighty Margarita Wednesday seem totally lame in comparison! While we’re out there, we’ll also get to talk with some Automobili Lamborghini execs, and maybe even get some free food. How awesome is that? Look for full coverage Monday afternoon in the blog.
