Track To Street: Corvette Racing Series, Episode 5
Bick66
The fifth episode of Track To Street celebrates the 50th anniversary of Corvette competing at Le Mans. The Corvette has come a long way since its 6 cylinder-equipped ’53 model, and much of that progress is due to the continued efforts of the Corvette Racing team. It all started when Dr. Dick Thompson piloted the Briggs Cunningham No. 2 Corvette for its debut in the 1960 Le Mans race. 50 years later, Corvette is still outperforming cars more than three times the price. Check out the latest Track To Street episode featuring the 50th anniversary Z06 Carbon here, and see more pictures after the jump. You can also watch the previous 2 episodes here.

1955 Le Mans Disaster
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
The worst accident in all of motorsports history, the 1955 Le Mans Disaster is a great example of why we have rules in racing. With out rules, chaos presumes. Almost two hundred people were hurt or killed because of a lack of rules regarding brakes, body panel materials, and proper safety barriers. Read more about the historical crash at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

Daytona Coupe Le Mans Edition
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
Ok, I’ve found destiny, I am LOVING this car. As some of you know I built up a FFR Cobra roadster, but I’d sell that, and my soul in a heartbeat for one of these. Exotic Auto Restoration in SoCal have taken a Superformance Coupe and modified it to produce a limited run of very special Daytona Coupes. Superformance cars are authorized by the man himself Carroll Shelby as ‘legit’ replicas (an oxymoron if I’ve ever heard one), so a Superformance Coupe is as close as you’re going to get to owning a Daytona coupe for less than a few million dollars. London to Maranello and Back, In a Ford GT and a Dodge Viper
Automotive Traveler
One of the great things about the life I’ve led for the last 10 years as an independent editor is that I’ve put together some really great road trip adventures. And quite frankly, none was better than the trip I took back in the summer of 2005, driving a Ford GT and a Dodge Viper from London to the Nürburgring, then to the gates of the Ferrari factory in Maranello, then on to Le Mans, and finally back to London, all in six glorious days. In my mind, it’s the ultimate road trip and I had a great friend along for the ride. More…

Aston Martin DBR9 009 Le Mans 2008 Winner GT1
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Ok, so I got a bit crazy photographing this car after my V8 Vantage test drive. But hey, it won Le Mans this year in the GT1 class, and there isn’t a bad angle on the car. Sadly, I didn’t get to hear it, as Aston Martin had pulled the motor before sending the car on its little publicity tour. But the Aston Martin guys made some vrooming noises as they pushed it back toward the trailer. A ton more pics after the jump.
