Maybach on the Half-Shell

By Jen

Editor

By fall of 2008, Maybach will be manufacturing its half-roofed Landaulet, which appeared as a concept car at the Detroit Auto Show. The soft-top limo bears a certain family resemblance to this Toyota Camry lowrider I saw at the SEMA show. But with a price tag of $1.35 million (!!), I can’t imagine that Landaulets will be exactly rolling out of the showrooms. Expect most of them to end up in the hands of NFL stars and foreign dictators. More views after the jump.

Three-Axle "Nightclub on Wheels"

By Jen

Editor

I’m not a fan of SUV-based limos, though admittedly, they’re fun to laugh at when they get into embarrassing mishaps.  For the most part, though, they just kind of gross me out: they just seem so totally in-your-face wasteful. This one claims to be an entire nightclub on wheels, with disco floors and ceilings, great sound and trippy lighting throughout, and not one but two VIP lounges. It’s also purported to be the first triple-axle H2 in the UK, and the site renting it promises it’ll "make all other Hummer limos look like dwarfs." Ugh.

Barry's Battleship

By Dan

Hemmings Motor News

I met Barry Wolk a few years ago at the Glenmoor Gathering and immediately knew he was my type of car guy–he appreciates collector cars of all types, but his garages are full of vehicles that are just a little out of the ordinary. And he has a thing for Continentals: witness his 1955 Porsche Continental, his 1956 Continental Mark II convertible and his latest project, a six-door 1968 Lincoln Continental limousine. Limousines make for difficult restoration projects due to their coachbuilt nature and extremely limited parts supply. But Barry has been more concerned with the serious rust issues and a previous restoration that relied heavily on body filler and rock-hard primer. He’s getting into some major sheetmetal work now, and I’m looking forward to seeing this one finished.

Hire an A-Team Van!

By John

Editor

While the A-Team hasn’t been shown in prime time for over 20 years, the formerly awesome and now just-really-funny series still has legions of fans—myself included. So I totally flipped out when I saw that over in England, you can hire a limo that looks like the A-Team van. How cool is that? If there was a Seattle-based company doing the same thing, I have to admit I’d be tempted. Maybe I’ll get lucky and someone in my neck of the woods will open a service like this! How much do you think it’d cost to get Mr T to drive it?

Toyota Cressida Limo?

By Rob

Editor-in-Chief

Here’s something you don’t see every day: a 1987 Toyota Cressida limo. Apparently it was built for the sales manager of a Toyota dealership in California. And it’s on eBay now with a Buy It Now price of $2,850.

He's Not Speeding, He's Just Flying Low!

This jet-limo recently sold on eBay for over a quarter million dollars. And while that may seem like a lot of cash to plunk down for a limousine—even if it does have a dance floor, fireplace and fog machine—if you think about it in terms of buying a private jet, it’s practically a steal! Check out the totally swank interior!

Another Sick Hi-Riser

By Jen

Editor

This Cadillac limousine found looming at the edge of the DUB corral is clearly the most massive example of the hi-riser genre at the show this year. The builders at Red’s Miami have been in the business of custom suspensions since 1985, and if there’s such a thing as doing a donk right, these are the guys for the job. Hummer Limos? Bah, Old News….

By Sean

ICE Merchandiser

If you live in the UK and really want to roll in style to your next big event you could roll in Hummer Stretch Limo, or you could take it to the next level and roll in stretched black Ferrari 360 Modena or this soon-to-be available stretched Audi Q7 SUV Limo… How pimp is that!
The Ferrari Even stretched and seating 6 in the rear, the 400hp Ferrari still posts some very impressive numbers with a 0-6 in less than 6 seconds and a top speed of 170mph! I guess it helps when the "stretched" section is made from the same carbon fiber process as the McClaren SLR! The Q7 is equally impressive. It comfortably seats 14, has 3 flat screens and killer multimedia and light show!

Jesse's Limo

By Rob

Jesse bought this limo for $500. The plan is to fix it up (including body work, paint, an engine swap and some interior work) rent it out for a while, then sell it. If he manages to do all the work he has planned, I doubt he sells. I like the pic below of his buddy "Dug" flipping off the roof.
