Slammed M3 From the Bay
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
This E36 M3 is owned by Stanceworks member Sean Williams of San Jose, California. Despite the ridiculously low stance, Sean uses the M3 as his daily driver. To get the slammed look (“pretty much the lowest E36 on the planet” Mike Burroughs writes), Sean uses a set of H&R Coilovers modified for maximum lowness. Continue reading at Speedhunters

Il Salotto D1 SR20 M3
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
Going through my library of older shoots I came across this car that I shot back in 2006. Built by Il Salotto of Tokyo it was one of only a few import cars that have ever competed in the D1 Grand Prix championship. It all began in 2005 when Il Salotto turbocharged an M3 and tired their luck out in D1, but the car was never really competitive enough. They decided to abandon the M3 and start fresh with an all-new project based on a stock 318i. The E36 was fully stripped out, put through some serious spot and seam welding as well as getting tons of extra reinforcements around highly stressed areas of the chassis. A 23-point roll-cage was also fabricated and welded in place. Continue reading at Speedhunters

If I Had More Parking Spaces…
By Ben Schaffer
The Real JDM
I would totally buy an E30 M3.
I’ve always loved these and they just keep getting better with age. As BMW’s get more and more advanced with technology power and weight, there is something really nice about the rawness of the E30 M3. Although the E92 M3 definitely went the right direction and became a more focused drivers car than the E46, I don’t think we’ll ever see a sub 3,000 pound M3 again.
The E30 happens to be around 2,700 pounds which is equivalent to the S2000, which I also love as one of the purest drivers cars produced. Between the legendary handling of the E30, the lightweight design and the timeless blister fender design from the factory, I think the E30 M3 will always be a classic.

Mercedes C63 AMG vs. BMW M3 Sedan: Which Would You Choose?
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
This week it’s the battle of the burly autobahn cruisers! The C63 AMG weighs 3,649 pounds and has a 6.2 liter V8 which puts out 451 hp. The M3 Sedan weighs 3,726 pounds and has a 4.0 liter V8 which puts out 414 hp. The BMW is available with either a 6 speed manual or the M Double-clutch tranny. The Mercedes in only available with a 7-speed auto with paddle shifters. Both cars are priced in the mid $50k range. So, which would you choose?
