Genesis Bests the Maxima on CarDomain

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

This week’s Showroom Showdown was close, but the Genesis took the win, edging out the Maxima by a few votes according to my count. Why? Cause it’s RWD, baby!

Hyundai Genesis 3.8 vs. Nissan Maxima 3.5 SV: Which Would You Choose?

By Rob

Editor-in-Chief

This week’s Showroom Showdown features two fast yet reasonably-priced four doors. Both cars are new for 2009. Both cost $32k. Both have 290 hp V6 powerplants. Weight and mpg are comparable. The Genesis, however, is RWD, while the Maxima is FWD. So, which would you choose?

Help Maxima Girl Rock Maxim's World!

By John Coyle

Editor

This is Maxima Girl’s third appearance in the blog, and she’s deserved every one. She’s won Showoff of the Week, owns a bunch of dope rides, and even races motorbikes. Basically, the chic is a total bad-ass. Last time I wrote about Maxima Girl, it was to congratulate her on the fact that her clothing company, Revvwear, had just passed its first anniversary, and this time, it’s because she’s been nominated as one of Maxim Magazine’s "Hometown Hotties." Only 100 women in the States made the cut, and from the looks of her profile on the Maxim site, she’s got a good shot a becoming number one. I’ve already gone and voted for her, and if you’d like to see one of CarDomain’s own make it into Maxim, you should do the same. It’s legal to vote once every day until July 7th, so don’t be shy—let’s make Maxima Girl number one!

2009 Maxima Begins Production. Do You Still Hate It?

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

Those new Maximas that you guys love to hate started rolling off the assembly line at Nissan’s Tennessee plant earlier this week. A lot of new cars look pretty non-descript, but the "aggressive-looking exterior" of this one seems to bring out an unexpectedly polarized reaction. Sure, it’s got a 290 hp V6, but one of you made the argument that "speed means nothing in a butt as[s] ugly car," and many of you railed against its looks during the showroom showdown. Really? On general principle, which would you rather have: an ugly car that leaves comparable commuters in the dust, or an inoffensive-looking powder puff?

Showoff of the Week: M. Diggler's Maxima

By John Coyle

Editor

It takes a lot of work to make a one-off drop-top look this clean, but M.Diggler has obviously put in the time. Looking at his ride makes us wish Nissan would actually make a convertible Maxima! Congrats man!

2009 Maxima More Popular By a Hair

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

Despite cries of unfairness from both camps, our TSX-vs-Maxima Showroom Showdown was one of the closest yet, with the Maxima pulling ahead by only a scant 3 votes. In true CarDomain fashion, you picked the Maxima’s burlier performance over the TSX’s luxier extras—and only two of you opted for "neither."

Maxima or TSX: Which Would You Choose?

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

A couple of really nice 2009 rides were revealed today at NYIAS. Both Nissan’s Maxima and Acura’s TSX feature controversial styling and "Four-Door Sports Car" performance. The Maxima will have a V6 pushing 290 hp, and a CVT automatic with optional paddle shifters. The TSZ has about 90 fewer horses, but its 2.4L VTEC will still be packing some serious punch, especially with the optional 6-speed manual. So which would you choose? TSX or Maxima?

2009 Nissan Maxima Unveiled

By Mike Musto

AKA Mr. Angry

The 2009 Nissan Maxima is finally here, and ya’ know what? It’s a really nice car. Styling is what you’d come to expect from Nissan for the Maxima–sporty but conservative. The new car has a sportier exterior than the outgoing model, and you can actually see traces of GTR in the front head lamps. The interior of the car has been thoroughly upgraded as well, with a beautiful leather-wrapped steering wheel and traces of carbon fiber on the console. Gauge layout is also what you’d come to expect from Nissan–big analog dials cleanly placed without any blockage from the steering wheel. To further the "sport" in the 4-door sports car, Nissan has included paddle shifters, which will be a fun addition to the package.

NYIAS: Nissan Forum Leaks 2009 Maxima Photos

By Jen Dunnaway

A day ahead of its unveiling in New York, the all-new Maxima is already all over the internet, thanks to the enterprising forum-dwellers at Supernissans.net! Up until yesterday, Nissan had only been doling out a few teaser shots of its new ride, hoping to save its big reveal for the Big Apple. Weet-woo. Click here to see them all.
