Tampa Sports Car Examiner
Registering at a generous 236.7 mph in just a single standing mile run, the world record for fastest Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution in a standing mile has been broken again. Killer Evo X Road Test… Almost
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
Matt Farah from the Smoking Tire saw this murdered out Evo X at a recent Cars and Coffee—and its owner Russ actually invited him to drive it. In case you were wondering, good things happen when you have a camera crew. Anyway, the Evo was stock for a whole week before Russ took it to Road Race Engineering, who added some trick suspension bits and started tuning the motor. This black beauty is currently putting down almost twice the horsepower it was in factory form, so as you can imagine, it’s damn quick. But before Russ handed it over to Matt, he wanted to demonstrate just how quick by overtaking a a Porsche 996 Cup Car. And everything went exactly as planned. Yup, it was a totally textbook shoot…

8-Second Evo!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
Last week, David Stock’s STM-prepped Evo 9 blasted through the 1/4 mile in a blistering 8.63 seconds. From what we can tell, this 1000 horsepower beast is a handful. Just look at how squirrelly it gets when he drops the hammer!

This Evo X Punches Time in the Face
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
The AMS Performance Evo is the ass kicker of you. It literally has only three actual events under its belt in its current guise. And somehow the AMS crew has been able to coax big numbers from the new 4B11 despite the lack of a G, a 6, or a 3 in the engine designation. Not only is the car stupid fast but AMS has plans in place for more power and even better aero with the aid of a flat bottom floor that has yet to be installed. What Show Car Style Do You Prefer?
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
The SpoCom show took place this past weekend in Long Beach. Our complete coverage is posted over on StreetFire, but I wanted to share a few pictures of the cars on display. Check out the best of show: Lyle Engleson’s Auto Concept Elite 1975 Mini Cooper. The craftsmanship on this old Mini is remarkable with a custom widebody and a rear-mounted 408hp Borg Warner S362 turbocharged Honda K20Z1 driving the rear wheels. As much as I love the ACE crew and I appreciate the work that Lyle has put into his Mini this car just doesn’t do it for me. Do you agree with me or not? Hit the jump to see some other cars from the show.
