Mobil 1 Contest Winner Spends Prize Cash On Basketcase Rescue!
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
I’m a fan of $1000-or-less cars and an even bigger fan of rescuing junkers from the crusher, so this is my very favorite kind of story. Mitch, the April winner for last year’s Mobilize Your Ride contest, used his prize cash to rescue this awesome ’68 Buick Electra convertible. The car had been sitting, sadly neglected and unwelcome, in someone’s driveway and was slated to be sold to the junkyard for scrap. But fortunately, with that thousand bucks in winnings burning a hole in his pocket, Mitch ponied up a paltry $800 to give the big-boat Buick the loving home it deserves. Fantastic job, Mitch! He’s already pulled and rebuilt the Buick’s 430 big block, and is now getting to work on the brakes. Check out his ride page to see how far this 800-dollar rescue project has come!

Mobil 1 rolled out their new Racing 0W-20 and 0W-30 fully synthetic motor oils at SEMA. And of course they sponsored some of the hottest rides at the show—the Bulletproof Automotive GTR’s and the incredible Porsche 996 Turbo. More pics after the jump, along with info on the new Mobil 1 Racing oils, which will hit the shelves next spring.

GT-RR Signature Build #2 – For Mobil 1
By Ben Schaffer
Bulletproof Automotive
Below is the billboard for Mobil 1 being put up in Las Vegas. For the record, the billboard was done about 3 weeks ago and it is computer generated (not the real car). The guys at Theory Communication did a great job working under pressure to design the billboard without a real car existing yet. Interestingly enough, the car at the time of the billboard creation was just starting preparation to be loaded on a boat coming from Hawaii to Los Angeles for us to do the build.
The Mobil 1 / GT-RR SEMA car is owned by a client of GT-RR/Bulletproof Automotive from Hawaii. The car although originally silver has been repainted Midnight Purple. Special thanks goes to Ito-san, President of Do-Luck Japan who took his Saturday to run errands for me in Japan and bought the paint for me from Nissan. Arigatoooooo!! Midnight Purple II is an extremely nostalgic color for GT-R enthusiasts, and it is commonly known in those GT-R circles that it is reserved for only a select few top spec GT-Rs from Nissan. It also happens to be a very hard color to get, as I learned the hard way. As part of the concept for this car, I wanted to make sure that we built the first Midnight Purple R35 in the world. Surely Midnight Purple will be offered again in the future from Nissan (probably as a limited color for the Vspec R35), but it was important for us to beat Nissan to the punch.
Admittedly, I’m short on time and this post is just the beginning of an intro for this car. I owe a better explanation to you all soon.

By John Coyle

Pedro credits Mobile 1 for the fact that after 300,000 miles, his little Ford is still running like a top. And if you didn’t win this month, don’t despair—there are still morechances to win! For all the details on how to enter, and the info onthe grand prize trip to the Daytona 500, head over to the Mobil-ize Your Ride group page!

Don’s ’64 Galaxie Fireball Roberts tribute car has always been an awesome fixture on CarDomain, and that’s why we’re stoked to announce that Don is the July winner for our Mobil-ize Your Ride contest! Mobil 1 synthetic didn’t even exist back in Fireball’s day, but that hasn’t stopped Don from building a truly impressive and thoroughly Mobil-ized page for the big Galaxie—way to roll with the times, man! Congrats to Don, who wins a cool thousand bucks and is now a finalist for the grand-prize trip to the Daytona 500 in February. You can enter, too—go to our Mobil-ize Your Ride group page to sign up and get the full contest details.

Russ Wins Mobil-ize Your Ride for June!
By John Coyle
Editor
We awarded Russ’ Bronco Showoff of the Week back in February, but since then, he’s been busy getting his Mobil 1 on. As you can tell by the quantities he keeps around the house, the dude is just head over heels for the slippery stuff, so much so that I’ve had to send him an email warning him not to ingest it. Remember Russ, Mobil 1 is great for your engine’s internals, not yours, and with the $1000.00 we’ll be sending your way, you can certainly afford something a little more tasty. To everyone who didn’t win, don’t despair—there are still plenty more chances to win! For all the details on how to enter, and the info on the grand prize trip to the Daytona 500, head over to the Mobil-ize Your Ride group page!

Corey Wins Mobil-ize Your Ride for May!
By John Coyle
Editor
There have been some great entries in the Mobil-ize Your Ride Contest, so it took us a few days to decide on May’s winner. In the end, we had to give the prize to Corey, who wants people to put down Karl Marx’s terminally boring treatise on the benefits of a classless, stateless society based on common ownership and pick up some Mobile 1. Sounds good to us man! Unfortunately, his affection for the sexy synthetic seems to have eclipsed his significant other—"I might as well tell my girlfriend to go find someone else because my heart doesn’t belong to her anymore"—and his determination to use Mobile 1 everywhere could have unfortunate consequences. For the record Corey, while this oil does provide "protection" for "internal components," it’s probably best to just use it in the way the experts at Mobile intended. But enjoy your $1000.00 prize, and best of luck to you in the Daytona drawing. And for those who didn’t win this month, don’t worry! There are still more chances to win. Head over to the Mobil-ize Your Ride group to find out how to enter!
