Gorgeous Model T Speedster on eBay

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

It’s got an all-steel body and has received some pretty creative updates throughout for performance and reliability, including an Isuzu oil pump, VW distributor, front disc brakes from a Honda Gold Wing motorcycle, and twin Tilson updraft carbs. The look is basically stock, but although certain details would probably horrify purist concours judges, it’s really a very sleek update that allows this to be a car that’s enjoyed and driven like it should be. Check out the auction on eBay.

Did the T stand for “Tank”?

By Stephanie Porteus

HotRodHoney

Introducing the first mass-produced vehicle, Ford pioneered the transition between horse & buggy and motorized street machine. The Model T was the cheapest and most quickly-assembled vehicle on the market–for $950 you could have one in any color as long as it was black–but was also unbelievably rugged. Check out this amazing archival footage to see what the Model T was capable of!

Two Engines + One Seat = Brass Balls

By David Clarke

highspeedhijinks

The hot rod culture tends to shift directions depending on what decade it is. In the 70′s, rods weren’t too popular at all, in the 80′s they had their hair-metal revival with ZZ Top’s custom rides, and by the 90′s, builders like Boyd Coddington and Chip Foose were beginning to show that they could be performance jewels. This twin-engine beast I found on eBay harks back to the 60′s when Tommy “TV” Ivo was a household name. It’s a hot rod monster that takes the standard T-Bucket fare over the top, with two 350 Chevy small blocks mated with a Ford 9-inch rear end, mounted to a lengthened and Z’d Model T frame. There’s not much time left on the eBay auction, so check it out now!

Walden Speed Shop

By Antonio Alvendia

Antonio Alvendia

Earlier this week we stopped by Walden Speed Shop to observe what makes these world-class metalcrafters tick. Greeting us at the entrance were a beautiful ’27 T-Bucket with a Buick Nailhead 425 and a partially built ’36 Ford smuggling an L92 crate motor between its bulging fenders. A gorgeous collection of vintage gas station signs hung like tapestries of automotive art signaled good things in store. Continue reading and view more photos on MotorMavens!

Vintage Tow Trucks from OkTOWberfest

By Jim Brennan

UDMan

As many of you may (or may not) know, my position as a district representative for an import truck distributor allows time to take in events that I normally would not attend otherwise. This is one such event, and it happened during the second weekend of October. The one thing I remember most was how cold the air was, as this was the first weekend that the thermometer dipped below the freezing mark this year. Anyway, I have several dealers in Massachusetts that display finished versions of UD Trucks set up for towing and recovery, and this is the reason why I was there.

The Massachusetts Statewide Towing Association wanted to put together a show that brought out most of the tow operators within Western Massachusetts, along with vintage tow trucks, and demonstrations.  Below are some of the vintage trucks that were in attendance, including a 1955 Chevy, several Fords, and a fully functioning Model T.

Contine reading after the jump.

Extreme Gross-Out Of The Day: Man Pulls Car With Nipples

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

You really don’t want to watch this video, in which a guy who calls himself "The Great Nippulini" tows a 2000 lb Model T roadster several feet with nothing but his pierced nipples. And if you do watch, I really hope I don’t need to tell you not to try this at home. Come on, there are way less yeow-inducing ways to move your car around!

This Just In: New on the Net

By John Coyle

Most of the time, I think art involving cars is pretty lame. But I thought this "Caution: Falling Cars" installation was hilarious. I wonder if anyone actually got fooled? Anyway, here’s the news:

  • Might the Cayenne soon be made in the US? Given that the Americans love SUVs—though gas prices have no doubt strained the relationship—and that North America is Porsche’s most important market, it makes business sense. Autoblog
  • To celebrate the 100th birthday of the Model T, Ford is sponsoring a contest to design a 21st century equivalent. It’s a cool idea, but the concept of bringing back the original Tin Lizzy is a little funnier. Detroit News
  • After the Bush administration revoked California’s right to enforce its own emissions regulations, the Golden State is now having to fight to preserve its traditionally tough stance on pollution. If you’ve ever seen the smog in LA, you’d know it’s probably a good idea to let the state decide what’s best for itself. Automotive News
  • In an effort to combat alcohol-related road deaths, French authorities are exploring the idea of mandating breathalyzers in late night watering holes. Since using them wouldn’t be required, the machines would either shame people into calling a cab, or spark competition to see who had the highest BAL. Both maybe? Bikes in the Fast Lane
  • The new Ford Focus is set to debut during American Idol tomorrow. We predict that Paula will babble about how awesome it is, Randy will call it "dawg," and Simon will hate it. Freep

Model T With a Jag V12!

By John

Editor

This baby was rusting in a field before this builder got a hold of it. Without the engine and tranny, the car is so light that two guys can pick it up, and the Jag motor is pushing over 300HP. You do the math. Check out the wicked intake they made!
