I was almost starting to think that no one was still running neon anymore, but Kristoffer totally rocks his red underglow. Check out his Monte’s ride page.

Contrast is nice sometimes, but I dig how just about everything in this photo is sort of putty-colored. It’s almost like Joe’s Monte Carlo is in its natural environment.

Best of SEMA: Luxury
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
Personally, I find most of the traditional luxury cars at SEMA to be a little boring. I just really don’t care if somebody slapped a sweet set of wheels on a 7 Series BMW and rolled it on to the red carpet. Yawn. That said, I’d like to nominate the following cars for best luxury ride: the black Porsche Panamera (not everyone finds it as ill-proportioned as I do) , the killer widebody Bentley in the Nutek Wheels booth, the unreal House of Kolor Monte Carlo, this uber-tough diesel powered Caddy, and David Huang’s aggressively attired Lexus IS 300. Even if you think I’m totally high with these choices, vote for your favorite!

Big, Brash Monte Carlo Lowrider at House Of Kolor
By Jen Dunnaway

HoK has always been known for their eye-searing paint schemes, and for their SEMA booth this year, they chose a pretty awesome canvas. The late-70′s Monte Carlo is one of my favorite overlooked classics, and I’m glad we can count on the lowrider and high-riser cultures to make something incredible out of cars that would probably otherwise just be run into the ground as beaters. I loved the classic lowrider metal-flake treatment on this Monte, but there was so much sparkle that it confused the heck out of my camera, which didn’t know whether to barf or go blind–see pics in a variety of different flash modes below the jump!

CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot: 2006 – 08 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS and Impala SS V8
By Jim Brennan
UDMan
Welcome to the CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot, a regular feature which aims to expand the notion of what a muscle car is, and to see if a FWD car can be called a muscle car. I must be out of my mind for doing this post, after the last drubbing I received for the 2005 – 08 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP, but here I am, trying to convince you that a couple of other GM cars, with a 5.7L V8 can be considered being inducted onto the Parking Lot. So let’s see if the 2006 – 08 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS, and the Impala SS can be considered an obscure muscle car.

JingDaddy Motorsports on CarDomain
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
We used to sponsor these guys’ FWD drag car, and now, it looks like they’re NASCAR-bound. JingDaddy Motorsports has acquired and prepped a pair of sportsman-class Monte Carlos, and from the looks of it, their two-car team is just about ready to tear up the track and Colorado National Raceway–and according to their ride page, Pike’s Peak as well. Visit JingDaddy’s page to check out the racecars’ amazing builds, which involved each car being reconstructed from the ground up and fitted with GM 604 crate engines!

On eBay: Former Stock Car Converted To SCCA Road Racer
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
This Monte Carlo started life as a Hendrick Racing ASA stock car. Somewhere along the line, presumably after the demise of the ASA, it was converted to run road races. It’s still running its ASA-spec LS1. Among many tweaks to set the car up for the road course were “modifications to chassis to achieve symmetry (basically the balanced ability to turn left and right),” and the original oil pan “replaced with a larger and deeper pan and Razor scavenge pump preventing oil starvation on right turns.” Tearing up the road course in your converted stock car? Cool! Check out the auction here.

Wild Customized Creations from GM at Barrett-Jackson
By Jim Brennan
UDMan
There are always wild customized creations built by the car companies, to gauge the reaction to the potential car buying public. Some have been quite successful, while others are somewhat lacking as far as design, execution, or even taste. Here are five different examples of some wild GM creations, that are now being offered at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale this month.
