NASIOC CSI FTMFW

By Rob Einaudi

It’s always great to see a forum catch a thief, and even better when the thief comes on and posts an apology. Just check out this thread at NASIOC.

VW Bug x EJ20 x BBS LMs = WIN

By Ben Schaffer

The Real JDM

In our quest to feature things that inspire us to think outside of the box, I must thank fellow car nut Alex Butti for the lead on this story! Inspiration of the day is a 1972 VW Bug with a Impreza STi motor swap, Porsche OEM Brembo brakes and BBS LM wheels.

More pics after the jump!

PRoN Episode 6: Totally Hilarious

By John Coyle

Editor

PRoN—the Periodic Review of NASIOC—always manages to balance being informative and hilarious, but episode 6 is even better than usual. My favorite part was when the guys decide to get progressively more wasted while testing their driving skills on a race simulator. Of course, you know how it’s going to come out, but that doesn’t mean the process is boring to watch. At about 30 minutes, it’s a way longer than most of the stuff I’m used to watching on line, but it’s worth every second. Check it out.

PRoN on CarDomain!

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Adam and Tyler, who shoot the PRoN videos (that’s Periodic Review of NASIOC) just uploaded their full library to CarDomain video. I’ve watched my share of car enthusiast video on the web, and I have to say that these PRoN episodes are some of my all-time favorites. If you love Subarus, or just like funny stuff and have some time to waste, be sure to check them out.

Hilarious Video: Subaru Ectomobile

By Jen

Editor

Everyone remembers the iconic Ecto of the Ghostbusters films: that beater ’59 Cadillac ambulance chasing ghouls all over Manhattan, bawling out of its old-school siren and taking corners with that tree-mendous body roll. But what would modern-day ghostbusters drive? A compact wagon would make sense, and modern AWD would definitely come in handy. Hey, how about a Subaru Outback? That’s exactly what these guys did with their Subie, and the whole hilarious story is documented in this thread on NASIOC. The "ECTO-1K" has functional lightbars and the correct 60′s-style wailing siren, features that the guys found handy during their snow-rescue work this winter—mostly "an excuse to run the lights on a public road, woo." Other highlights include the Ecto’s appearance at the StarFest sci-fi convention, and this video of the car set to music, which is pretty much the most hysterical thing I’ve seen all day. Enjoy!

STI Storm Trooper

By Rob

Seems that people are starting to warm up to the new STI a bit. Still, when Dan from Harman Motive posted a pic of their new STI project car on NASIOC, one of the members decided to have a bit of fun with it.

Cool Show: Periodic Review of NASIOC

By Paul

AKA Contrapaul

The Periodic Review of NASIOC (North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club) is one of the most ingenious things that any car forum has done. The 15-minute episodes, aired on YouTube, manage to be both charmingly home-made and slickly edited at the same time, giving viewers an inside look at the world of Subaru enthusiast culture. Segments within each show feature hosts and guests pulling stunts, working on project cars, clowning around, and profiling various Subie luminaries, all the while educating the viewer on the NASIOC forums and Subaru in general. I love watching these, and like many viewers, I don’t even own a Subaru. It’s really a wonder that no other forums have shows like this, because of what they’ve been able to do with this show. I hope that episode 5 will convince other forums to do the same, since there’s no better way to spread the word about your cars and your scene at the grassroots level. The last four episodes are compiled on the show’s MySpace page, and check out the current one below!
