Thanks to the folks at PASMAG, we have pics from the NOPI-HIN show held at New England Dragway earlier this month. And while you’re at it, be sure to check out pics from World Challenge: Round 4 and DMCC: Round 3.

Yup, it’s true. Our buddies over at SoundDomain have confirmed with NOPI headquarters that the giant September 15th Atlanta event—billed as the "Largest Car Show in the World"—has been canceled. Here’s the text of the press release:

"It is with great regret that NOPI Motorsports, LLC has suspended operations for the summer and fall 2008. This will include NOPI Drag Racing Series, NOPI Drift Series and the NOPI NATIONALS Motorsports Supershow. The company is undergoing an organizational restructuring in light of severe adverse affects of a disappointing spring season. The economy and unfavorable weather resulted in underperformance of all spring events. Michael Meyers, president of NOPI Motorsports, reports that NOPI Motorsports is working with its clients and sponsors to minimize the uncertainty going forward. This is a reflection of the economic times in which we currently live. The countrywide economic and industry downturn has caused a slowdown and tightening of belts. This affects everyone and companies, at all levels, and NOPI Motorsports is no different."

NOPI won the CarDomain People’s Choice Award for "Best Car Show" last year, and everyone here hopes the restructuring helps the company get back in the black. Stay tuned to SoundDomain for all the news regarding the IASCA World Finals. 

This event was out in the middle of nowhere, but tons of cool cars still showed made it to the show. I’ve been a fan of the Solstice since it came out—for the money, what other car looks as good?—so I was pretty stoked on this track-ready example. How tough does the roll bar look? I also really dug this 240 drift car. The colors might be a little wild, but check out how the wheels match the cage! How rad is that? Of course, these weren’t the only two wicked machines on the grounds. Enjoy all the pics!

Most of the time, when you think about things going sideways, it’s not a particularly pleasant image. But going sideways was the name of the game in New Jersey last weekend, as a bunch of drifters descended on Englishtown to tear up the track. As you’d expect, there were several dope little 240s present, but I was really surprised to see a pick-up in the mix. As someone who used to own a big old Chevy in a perpetually wet town, I was always struggling not to fishtail my rig, so I got a kick out of seeing this dude do it on purpose. Enjoy all the pics!

Lots of folks talk trash about Florida, but you have to love a state where it’s always driving season. Unsurprisingly, there were some wicked cars on display at the NOPI event in the Sunshine State last weekend, but it seemed that most of the folks attending were at the event to watch drift cars burn some rubber. Fortunately, there was plenty of drifting action to keep them occupied, and since this is a NOPI event, there was also a bikini contest.
