Last week I stopped by NorthWest Auto Salon to see what’s new.  I’d love to tell you it was completely random, but with a hot car show the following weekend I had a feeling that the NWAS crew might have some interesting cars, and I was right.  You might recognize the Carrera GT from our visit last year but wait till you see what else was in the shop! Also, if you’re here in the NW make sure to vote for the NWAS crew again this year in the King5TV Best of the Western Washington.

Aside from the great cars that were in the shop Blake told me that the shop has been staying super busy with their mobile detail work, and we’re not just talking in Seattle.  Scuderia details down in California, paint restoration down in Portland, and some supercar details in our own backyard.  Talk about a rough job.  Let’s see who can name every car pictured in this blog! The sun decided to come out yesterday afternoon so I raced home to get down on a car wash.  I’d been pretty upset that I hadn’t been able to wash it in nearly three weeks, so it was overdue.  Similar to my last wash, I used my new foam cannon and some other new wash chemicals that I got from the Chemical Guys.  As for my method, I’m piggybacking off what I’ve learned from Blake and the NorthWest Auto Salon guys when they did their 24 step car wash. Now all I need is a dope wheel cleaning brush. Here is the one I’m thinking of getting! Daytona Speed Master Wheel Brush from Autotopia. I like the idea of not beating my hands up on the insides of the wheel!

So what products are you using to wash your car?

Just wanted to let all the Seattle peeps know about a great car show that is coming up in two weeks that will be hosted in Red Square at UW and it’s being pu ton by our buddies over at NorthWest Auto Salon. Last year’s event was awesome and this year’s will be even bigger with more exclusive rides. If you live in or around the Northwest, travel down to the the University of Washington and check it out.

Back in October I showed you this red GTV, which swung by NorthWest Auto Salon while we were there checking out the matte black Ford GT. Well last week NorthWest Auto Salon was detailing this beautiful yellow car for the Group 2 guys. This is still my favorite Giugiaro design, and one of my all time favorite Alfas. Yesterday I showed you Blake’s new ‘69 Continental project car. Well here’s another one he just picked up—an ‘82 Dodge Rampage Sport! The tranny immediately took a dump, so he swapped in a 5-speed out of an Omni GLH. What else do you think he should do with it? More pics after the jump.

We saw a ton of cool cars when we dropped by Northwest Auto Salon last week. One of them was Blake’s new ‘69 Lincoln, which he was in the middle of wet sanding. Check out his new 22″ wheels after the jump. And stay tuned for a lot more pics from our visit.

I don’t know about you guys but I’m obsessive when it comes to keeping my cars clean. So when it comes to detailing and auto care I’m always trying new product and equipment.  Needless to say, when I saw that Blake from NorthWest Auto Salon had a new toy I decided to get out of the office and check it out.

I first saw Blake showing it off in the AudiWorld Forums on a Touareg detail. The way I understand it is that the snow foam can be applied as the pre-soak after a thorough rinsing.  The key here is that the snow foam is designed to separate the dirt from the paint and to allow gravity to pull the resulting foam of the car. Looking around I don’t see a whole lot of companies using this tool, but I am reading some pretty great reviews about it and Blake tells me that he is working with some product designers on the best mixture for the cleaning agent. Here’s a time-lapse video of the Northwest Auto Salon guys doing an "enthusiast detail" on a 996 Turbo. It definitely shows the level of attention that is required if you truly want to get your vehicle clean. Blake will be doing some in-depth detailing tutorials for us in the near future, so stay tuned.
