I can’t believe I missed epic auto fail #1 from last year, where the guy on gixxer.com pours NOS energy drink into the gas tank of his sport bike. I got through about ten pages of the 137 page post and still couldn’t decide if he was a troll or not. Still funny as hell. And a word of caution: do not click on #7 unless you want to puke. I always love it when you got to a baseball game and you either get something free for being one of the first 1,000 people in the door or because your team hit a home run in the 7th inning. Well, the guys at NOS Energy Drink just one upped the good old Mariners by sounding out some cool NOS Gear to celebrate Chris Forsberg as the 2009 Formula Drift Champion. Being that I”m constantly switching from computer to computer my NOS flash drive is my favorite item!

First off, am I the only one that thinks the guys fighting this fire should be wearing more than shorts and t-shirts? If there’s a bottle of nitrous in a burning car, nobody knows for sure what’s going to happen, and this situation could have resulted in an explosion. Another thing? Why the hell didn’t the driver shut the motor down before he bailed? That seems like a no-brainer to me. Anyway, while there are some pretty big fireballs—at one point it gets so bright you can barely see anything in the frame—it doesn’t look like anyone got away with anything worse than some singed eyebrows.

Grape NOS is coming back, and that’s what everyone was drinking Friday night while we were shooting the drift video. NOS is a big sponsor of both Drift Office and Pacific Raceways, and Terry Vo and his crew were there handing out free energy drinks to the drivers and spectators. Thanks guys!

I am in NOS heaven! Okay, not that kind of NOS. I’m talking about New Old Stock, those rare discontinued parts, never installed on a vehicle, that you can pick up basically "new" on eBay—give or take a little shelf wear. Today, the ultra-rare factory-fresh cylinder head I recently ordered for my 1984 diesel Escort arrived at my desk in its original Ford Motor Company box, still sticky with Cosmoline. I’m so stoked, though I’m going to be living on Kraft Dinner for the next few months: the head cost me more than the car I bought it for, but I decided it was worth it to avoid the uncertainty and potential for disaster involved in getting my existing cracked head welded up and re-machined. I’ve gotten NOS stuff for my cars in the past, always from eBay, mostly just trim and interior pieces that they don’t make anymore. But this is by far my most significant NOS purchase to date. How about you? What’s your coolest NOS find, and where’d you score it?

I stumbled across these trick custom-painted bottles in the Nitrous Express booth at SEMA. The coolest part? After I scoped out the collection, one the NX guys told me they were painted by Mike Cotton, a good friend of mine back in Illinois! If you have a dream, Mike and his crew at Midwest Images—which specializes in metal fabrication and paint—can realize it! Of the bottles he did for NX, my favorite is the matte black, Von Dutch-style one below. Sure, it looks slick, but a final coat of Alsa Corp’s Soft Touch Clear actually makes it feel smooth and rubberized. We knew our Scion xD project was going to look cool—we just didn’t know how cool. Well, now we know, and we’re beyond impressed.This was a huge project and involved a lot of sweat, late nights and driving through fire-ravaged SoCal, but the guys from the Snake Pit delivered big time! In addition to the awesome graphics and trick TSW wheels, they built a huge custom sub enclosure, gave it a sick two-tone interior, and even set this little puppy up with NOS! After the show is done, Sean is going to be driving it back to California with one of the dudes from the Snake Pit, so be on the lookout for a couple of road-trip posts.

Cutting down trees is serious business, and sometimes, you’re going to need more than the standard equipment to get it done. That’s where this V8-powered chainsaw comes into play. I can’t imagine there are any trees that wouldn’t start shaking in their roots if they saw this monstrosity headed their way!
