This was definitely the loudest car I heard pull up this afternoon at SEMA. More pics after the jump, including photos that sweet Bronco parked behind it!

Duster Beats the Nova on CarDomain

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Our second eBay Motors Showdown went to the 1973 Duster 340 by a pretty wide margin. It’s interesting to note that the Duster only got bid up to $13,600 before the auction ended, well shy of the $16,5000 reserve. The 1972 Nova sold for $14,500. Have any ideas for next week’s match up? Post them in the comments below!

Nova vs. Duster: Which Would You Choose?

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Duster owners always hate it when people say, “Nice Nova!” so I thought I’d put the two together in this week’s eBay Motors Showdown. Originally my plan to was to look for beaters, but then I found two nice “survivors”—yes, an overused term, but I think it applies fairly well to these examples. The 1972 Nova is not really an SS, and it’s unclear whether it’s wearing original paint, but it does seem to be quite clean and original. The 1973 Duster 340 seems to be a very original and well-documented one owner car. Auctions are ending very soon (and may be done by the time many of you see this blog post) and it’s unclear if either will make the reserve, but they seem to be priced pretty close. Anyway, click the links to the two auctions above and then let us know—which would you choose?

CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot – The 1974 Pontiac Ventura GTO

By Jim Brennan

UDMan

Welcome to another installment of the CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot, a regular feature which aims to expand the definition of what a muscle car is, and to discover hidden treasures while doing so. When I started this series of posts, I stated that all of the vehicles featured were not generally thought of as muscle cars, or were rare oddities within the muscle car period. I’ve introduced you to the first turbocharged American car, an English Touring car with the heart of a Chrysler, a couple of German Uber Sedans, even a couple of V-8 equipped Japanese models, among others. I even tried to convince you that turbocharged 4 cylinder models were muscle, and made an argument for front wheel drive vehicles. So, you wouldn’t think I would be showcasing a car with one of the most revered names in the Muscle Car category, but this car is a one year only model, the 11th of the series, and the last American made version. Let’s take a look at the 1974 Pontiac (Ventura) GTO.

Former Car Craft Cover Car Nova on eBay

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

It’s always neat to see cars formerly featured in the print mags hit the auction block on eBay. This particular Nova from a recent Car Craft cover shoot is one tough customer. It’s equipped with a 420ci small block Chevy and has been 8.90s on the spray.

Although the seller said that the car can be street driven if the new owner wants to, the 14.5:1 compression ratio may limit that to short, race-gas-swilling trips. The rest of the tech list on the car reads like a build sheet on a drag car. This puppy is hard core.

The asking price of $39,995 is not pocket change, but for the amount of work that has been placed into all aspects of this car, from the body, to the chassis, to the motor, it’s not out of whack either. If we had a the scratch this thing would be on a truck headed to us already.

This is roughly the third time around for this car on the Bay. Let’s follow along and see if anyone bites this time.

Not-So-Super Nova on Craigslist

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

If this doesn’t garner a sudden and immediate WTF than we don’t know what does. This Nova was horribly disfigured at some point in its life and now appears to be a suitable addition to an automotive carnival side show

The positives are that it s packing a 454, has a killer turning radius and may actually qualify to be driven around golf courses across America. After that we kind of run out of nice things to say about this creation, which obviously took a ton of time and talent to pull off. We were going to say something about it looking factory, but then we got sick on the keyboard.

Hell, look at how little room it takes up on the trailer! Click here to see the ad.

Musclepalooza IX: Barn-Find Yenko Deuce?

By Dan Strohl

Hemmings

We see some unusual stuff go down the dragstrip during our Musclepalooza events – after all, it’s a chance for anybody who can pass tech to test their car’s abilities – and Musclepalooza IX was no exception. We saw this ratty Nova done up in Yenko Deuce livery making a few passes and knew we had to track the guy down. Continue reading at Hemmings

An Unspeakably Defiled Nova on eBay

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

We love ’68-’72 Novas around here. They make great drag cars, look killer in hot street trim, and will swallow whatever nasty motor you have designs for. We’ve seen plenty cut up and raced, and even more that have rotted so badly that they’ll never see road use again, but this one…this one makes us sad.

The car looks to be clean and the floors appear to be rust free in a couple of the sellers’ admittedly rough photos. What possesses people to do stuff like this? A BangShifter needs to buy this trar, kick ‘er on down into low-range and drive through this fellow’s trailer. That’ll learn him. Look here, if you dare.

SEMA 2008: Goodguys Super Nova

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Here’s the Goodguys giveaway car for a 2009, a tough 615 hp 1970 Nova built by Precision Coachworks. Designed in conjunction with Air Ride Technologies, this is a serious g-machine, and you can even take a ride in it on the autocross before the lucky winner gets the car next year. See more specs and pics here, plus I have some more shots after the jump. And sorry about the dude with the blue backpack—I didn’t see him til I uploaded the pics.
