3-Piece Wheels
By Ben Schaffer
The Real JDM
I wanted to discuss an often overlooked topic about 3pc wheels. Wheel companies have interesting ways to increase the diameter of rims without increasing the actual centers of the wheels. This NSX is a perfect example because it runs staggered rim sizes of 19″ up front and 20″ on the rear. If you notice the lips, the rears have an extra inch of height built into the lips to accept smaller centers. As a result a larger wheel can be used without engineering a larger center. From a distance the visual downside is that it does not look any bigger because the size perception of wheels often rests with the spoke length. However on a car like the NSX rarely do 20″ wheels look appropriate, this is a great way to pull off 20″s while still making the car look sporty and not ridiculous.

Epic Honda NSX Video
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
This is not your average epic video, this is art. It’s rare to see a clip that one could consider a modern masterpiece, but this short film is so epic it’s like it was sent from the JDM gods themselves. Created by Daniel Michaelis, this video captures the true essence of what the Honda NSX stands for; speed, agility, and style! Read more about the epic clip at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

Make Your Own Paper Super GT NSX
By Ben Schaffer
The Real JDM
Having been blown away by seeing this thing at Tokyo Auto Salon, I wanted to write another blog post related to it.
By now I think we all know how incredible the cardboard GT500 NSX project turned out. For those of you who saw it in person, it was especially amazing when placed next to other Super GT cars. From a distance it literally fooled me and had me thinking it was a real car that just looked “a little unusual”. For a fan at heart like me, I’d love to one day own a 1:1 cardboard replica like this! But for now, I’ll just dream of having enough space at home to be able to own something like this.

Drifting NSX
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
Well here’s a sight you don’t see everyday, even here at Ebisu! Not only was this guy drifting an NSX, “the Japanese super car,” but a modified NSX! The car has a wide body aero kit and engine tuning that includes aftermarket camshafts coupled with remapping via an HKS FconV Pro. The most amazing thing about the day was the way he transported all his drift equipment, including 6 spare wheels! Continue reading at Speedhunters

Ghettolicious: The FXMD Time Attack NSX – So Wrong it’s Right Again
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
See this car? It’s a piece of shit. It flies in the face of conventional motorsports wisdom and it’s an insult to the development and direction of the time attack ethos. And you know what, I freakin’ love it! The FX Motorsports Development crew and their NSX are so wrong they’re right again. Much like the GST Impreza RS this NSX is ghettolicious in the finest sense of the term. When I say this to the team’s driver and co-owner, Billy Johnson he gets a little miffed. But team principle Ken “Nami” Namimatsu is rockin’ my Kool Aid with some ice and a straw if you know what I’m saying. Hit the jump to figure out exactly what I’m saying (I’m not even entirely sure) and to see our StreetFire.net video feature on this NSX.

NSX Perfection
desert-motors.com
I’ve always loved the NSX, and while it is still highly regarded in certain circles, it’s often looked at as overpriced, underpowered, dated and so on. With a lifespan of 14 years where it went relatively unchanged while others caught up and surpassed it (at least, on paper), it’s an understandable view. While the NSX remains a phenomenal car in factory form (it quickly and deservedly earned the moniker of “the everyday supercar”), it only gets better when put in the right hands and, in my opinion, is one of the very best platforms to come from any manufacturer. That’s why a car like this 700+hp widebody ’94 NSX just makes me all warm and fuzzy. When I first met the owner and saw the car in unfinished form, I immediately wanted to shoot it. Fast forward two and half years later and this is the results of that shoot. Check out the full article, more photos and the rest of the issue at Desert-Motors Magazine.

Time Attack NSX Runs Tens!?
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
A couple weeks after Billy Johnson and the FX Motorsports NSX decimated the field at the Redline Time Attack at Willow Springs with an unheard of 1:18.555 I spoke with Mike from FX at SpoCom. Above the din of dueling DJs – sorry, I’m old – Mike tells me something about them taking the NSX to the drag strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, rolling the car off the transporter – in full time attack set up, mind you – and clocking a 10-second quarter-mile pass!? I chalk up the miscommunication to the loud music and my bad hearing – again, I’m old – but then I see this video on StreetFire. Hit the jump to see what I’m talking about.

The History of the Honda NSX
By Steve Neill
Steve Neill
Welcome to part one of my history of Japanese sports cars. I thought I’d begin with a car that started out as a great superpower in the world of exotics, and ended as a victim of poor marketing and even poorer decisions.
The Honda NSX (AKA the Acura NSX in the US) was heralded as a Ferrari killer of its time. It had nowhere near the power of most of the German and Italian supercars. However it did have the comfort, handling, low weight and reliability that most of them lacked. It was a truly amazing piece of machinery, one that brought back the essence of sports cars, where the driver’s pleasure was the number one priority. Continue reading…
