2012 Z28 Camaro Gives the Nurbugring a Whirl

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

This is purported to be the first video of GM’s new blown beastie doing anything cool, and between the supercharger whine and whatever exhaust setup they’re piping it through, it sounds nothing short of amazing. I love how the video shooter is besotted enough to follow the prototype home afterwards. Via Camaro5.

Lotus 2-Eleven Crashes At Nürburgring

By Michael Berenis

The 2-Eleven is a great handling car, but even the best out there have their limits. Pushing the lateral limit of this Lotus, the driver over corrected himself right into the wall. Like popping popcorn, bits of yellow is sent flying in all directions upon impact! Read more about the wreck at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

‘Ring Rental Caterham

By Katherine Helmetag

Atomicalex

I arrived home from work the other day to find this next to my house. It’s one of the many cars that you can rent specifically for use on the Nordschleife. That’s important, because car rental firms keep their eyes on the webcam at the entrance to the course, looking for their cars and denying insurance claims to all who crack them up on the fabled course. Private owners can find themselves in the same sticky spot as in the US – no coverage if there is any evidence of timing. Unfortunately, this track-prepped rental was in the possession of a lucky neighbor, not me! More pics and strange German road sign after the jump!

Pagani Zonda R Sets Nürburgring Lap Record

By Michael Berenis

Tampa Sports Car Examiner

This time the real Nürburgring production car lap record has been broken. Although commonly thought to be owned by the Ferrari 599XX at 6:58.16, the real record was held by the Radical SR8LM at 6:48.00; the difference is a matter of opinion. What you define as a “production car” determines who’s record was shattered. When you get to the price and level of these exotics, none of them are hardly “production”. Either way, the Pagani Zonda R still pwned both of those cars with a lap time of 6:47.5!  Read more at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

Vintage Rolls-Royce Vs. Nürburgring

By Michael Berenis

Tampa Sports Car Examiner

The 1970s Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was no sports car, and putting it up against “The Ring” is like trying to ride a drunken elephant through a fine China shop. However, with the right driving technique even this massive land beast can be as nimble as a mouse. Using weight to its advantage, the luxurious suspension allowed the Rolls to live up to its name and effectively roll through the corners. It’s not setting any Nürburgring records, but it is fun to watch. Read more about the Rolls-Royce Nürburgring experience at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

By Michael Berenis

Ripping, sliding, speeding, and high in adrenaline production count, BMW’s were made to do more than just look pretty. Watching these BMW’s tackle the track is very exciting, and shows the drift abilities of the legendary Nurburgring kings, “BMW”. Who knew Mom and Dad’s beamer could do something like this?
