Something Unexpected: A Lexus LX 570 SCORE Offroad Contender
By Jim Brennan
UDMan
I was in the Las Vegas Convention Center very early this morning wandering the halls to try and find undiscovered treasures hidden within the excesses of SEMA. Take a look at this one, a Lexus LX 570 competing in the SCORE Stock Full Class, piloted by Joe Bacal who is a Cancer Survivor sitting at the KC HiLiGHTS Booth. Read more after the jump!

Giant-Ass Rock Crawler in the Mickey Thompson Booth
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
You want articulation? We got your articulation right here! I walked past the rock crawler in the Mickey Thompson booth like ten times yesterday, and I still couldn’t get over how massive it is. I mean, I’m six three, and it’d be a bitch for me to climb in. It looks like the kind of vehicle wimpy little crossovers dread seeing in a dark alley. More pics after the jump.

No Detailing Needed: Traxxas Short Course Race Truck
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
This is my fourth year at SEMA, and in all my trips, I don’t think I’ve seen a dirty vehicle within 1000 yards of the Las Vegas Convention Center. So the Traxxas short course race truck really stood out when I was walking the halls this morning. Driver Mike Jenkins just took this baby to a first place finish out at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and it came straight from the race to the Traxxas booth. As you can see, it’s still wearing half the track, and I think that’s awesome. More pics after the jump.

Jeep Makes Massive Jump!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
OK, Jeeps are tough. Everybody knows that. But even the burliest of machines has its limits, and this giant jump was probably a little too much to ask of a Wrangler. I’m sure the front end of this baby is totally wrecked, and that landing couldn’t have been a terribly comfortable for the driver. Seriously, an impact like that could leave you with chipped teeth! Oh, and I think the dude who edited this deserves some bonus points for the inspired use of “I Believe I Can Fly.” Enjoy.

Bad-Ass Little Samurai Tears Up the Dirt
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
One of my favorite pieces of motorcycle advice has always been “keep it shiny side up.” And while it’s not really related to the clip of this bad-ass little Suzuki tearing up the dirt, it totally popped into my head when I was watching it. How cool is it when it recovers from being on its side?

Mind the Gap: Burly Canal Jump!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
Ok, there’s “go big or go home,” and then there’s Jeff Siefert’s 160-foot jump over the Glamis Canal. Does this guy have some stones or what? I mean, if he were to screw up and nail the concrete berm, he’d have been killed. The video replays this epic jump three times, but only the middle one is at full speed. Enjoy.

GM Racing Machines at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction
By Jim Brennan
UDMan
Along with some significant (and not quite significant) vehicles available at the Scottsdale Barrett-Jackson Auction that GM Heritage Museum is disposing of, there is a group of racing and racing support cars that will be offered for bid. Most of these have been saved for the Finale on Sunday, in the hopes of achieving as much value as possible. A lot of these cars will be purchased for future vintage racing, or for racing museums, but I’m guessing that more than a couple will be actively campaigned in the very near future. Sit back, and buckle up your five point harness, here are some of the racing vehicles from the GM Historical Collection.

Setting Up At The Skyjacker Booth
Skyjacker Suspensions generally has a pretty burly display at SEMA, and I was stoked to see the guys putting the finishing touches on this year’s effort. Through a deal with Ford, they managed to get ahold of this pre-production 2009 F-150 for their booth. I talked to Tom O’Neil, who said it’s running a 6" lift kit and a 3" strut kit. The big rockpile dumping out the back will have RC cars running on it once the display goes live. See more pics!

Amoco Ultimate Favorite: Dodge Ram Rockcrawler
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
Even though Amoco is giving away a ton of prizes, there’s so many awesome entries in the Your Car Is Worth It Contest that we can’t possibly shower them all with free BP gas cards and trips to the races. So we thought we’d highlight some of our faves in the blog. I totally dig this awesome home-built rockcrawler. Here’s what the owner says about it:
This is the first truck I ever purchased with my own hard earned money. I bought the truck bone stock in 2002, with almost 100,000 miles on the odometer, because that was all I could afford at the time. Every dollar I have put into it since then I have worked my butt off for, and now I can play just as hard with the truck to show for it!!! This truck truly is my pride and joy! I do all of my own work and get a real sense of accomplishment by building a winner, not buying one!!
There are still more chances to win, so if you haven’t already thrown your hat into the ring, make sure to enter the Amoco Ultimate Your Car Is Worth It Photo Contest!

"Uber FJ"
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
I realize that some of y’all are big FJ haters, but you’ve gotta hand it to Todd, who’s built a supercharged baja version of Toyota’s retro SUV into an ultimate "high-speed desert exploration" machine. Check out this dramatic and extra-hilarious video to get an idea of what he means by that, and don’t forget to check out his ride page!
