Photoshop Firebird Concept!

By David

AKA Highspeedhijinks

Rob’s blog about Cars photochops got me to thinking: has anyone made a Firebird out of the new Camaro body? No sooner had I done a Google search on this question when the answer hit me like a sock full of nickels. Photochopping genius Kevin Morgan has done not one, but several intriguing designs for a retro-styled Firebird. The first one is what I affectionatly call the Bandit, a shiny black with the gold screaming chicken on the hood. Morgan has also done a variant on this color scheme with a front clip made to look like the mid-70′s ‘birds. The bright blue color scheme on this one is remeniscent of the Skybirds of ’77-’79; and this design is a definite Indy pace car contender, a white convertible with clean-but-mean blue racing stripes. I know everyone is all anxious with the return of the Camaro, but nothing would get my blood pumping and bank accounts drained faster than for one of these sweet ideas to come to fruition.

Cars Photochops!

By Rob

I finally got around to watching the Pixar movie Cars a few weeks ago (Jen was horrified to learn I hadn’t seen it and let me borrow her personal copy). And now my daughter is obsessed with it, thanks to a kid’s birthday party this weekend with the full Cars theme–Cars cake, Cars napkins, Cars plates, Cars party hats, Cars pinata. I’m happy to say that her favorite car is King (she thinks Mater "looks like a car made out of poop"). Anyway, I’ve been seeing some pretty good Cars photochops recently around the web. I really like Mike’s ‘Cuda below. Got a good Cars photochop on your ride page? Post a link in the comments below. We’ll send the member with our favorite Cars photochop a CarDomain t-shirt.

Photochop or Not?

By Rob

The Hemmings Blog has a bunch of photos of this hilarious Skoda Capri 205. If you attempted a burnout, would the wheels catch on fire or just throw wood chips? And does anyone think this is just a good photochop?

I honestly don’t know what to make of this. Either Ford’s really on top of quality assurance, or just continuing to go nowhere fast. Because they just issued a recall for the 2008 F-150 Super Duty. Apparently, there’s a problem with flames shooting out of the tailpipe.

Look, it’s great to be vigilant. But a recall on a 2008 model? 2007 just started! It’s a shame because I really like this truck. Maybe they should just add a flamethrower option and call it good. I figure they gotta make money on something, right? If you care, you can read the full story here. If not, check out my rad photochop skills!

Photochop Winner – Round One

First of all, you guys rule. We have some truly talented photochoppers on this site. Picking a winner for this week’s photochop contest was tough, but in the end we went with crochface, cause he has so many incredible chops. Go to his ride page and check them out. Amazing work–I had trouble picking one to show below. Honorable mention goes to SlammedGrand for the super cool Grand Prix created using 3D modeling by his buddy Tyler. We’re gonna hook up crochface and Slammed with t-shirts (I guess we’ll send Slammed two–so he can give one to Tyler).

This contest was such a success we’re gonna take it to the next level next week (or as soon as I can get my act together). Get ready to test you chop skills against Yan, our in-house photochop wiz. It’s gonna be kind of like Iron Chef, but cooler. We’ll try to talk marketing into coughing up some good prizes, too. So stay tuned. And congrats to our winner(s) of Round One.

CarDomain member royster would like to see his 91 Previa on the cover of Import Tuner. And who can blame him? Anyone else photochop their ride onto the cover of a magazine? If so, post a link to your ride page.
