The National Auto Sport Association (NASA) Western Endurance Racing Championship (WERC) held Round 5 at Buttonwillow Raceway Park. Drivers punished their brakes in the midst of a dark three hour on-track battle. This was the last round before the championship finale during the 25 Hours of Thunderhill in December. Tony Stewart Races $500 Cars With ChumpCar

By Rob Krider

Racerboy

You read that correctly. Just like some CarDomain members when Tony Stewart doesn’t have his weekends filled with NASCAR he runs the ChumpCar World Series. Tony drove a beater Camaro in the ChumpCar 24 hour race at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) -you can catch all the details at Jalopnik.

ChumpCar also has a little more NASCAR flavor, their schedule has three major NASCAR venues: Texas Motor Speedway, Homestead-Miami and Auto Club Speedway in Southern California -more details at Speed:Sport:Life. The cool part is you don’t have to be a famous racecar driver like Tony Stewart to come out and play, this is an endurance racing series anyone can run with a $500 car, a few friends and a weekend and a set of tires to kill.

The culmination of the multiple race series ends in December during NASA’s 25 Hours of Thunderhill. See the full write up and results from NASA’s first Western Endurance Racing Championship event of 2010 at Jalopnik.

Car Domain Blogger Wins First Episode of Forum Wars TV Show

By Rob Krider

Racerboy

Talking trash on car forums is a rite of passage for most car guys of the new millennium. Well, The Forum Wars has changed all of that. You see, this show mandates you gotta put your right foot where your mouth is. You think you and your ride are the baddest thing to ever hit a racetrack? Then do it in front of the cameras against an equal competitor.

I had to do just that after talking smack on Stangnet.com about how my friend’s car, a 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT, owned by Steve Kuhtz, was the shi… stuff. The show pitted me against a SoCal drifter in a Nissan representing My350Z.com. We did battle on the drag strip and a road course to determine the overall champion.

I’m happy to report that, thanks to the boys at Shelby building a great car and a little last minute help from Hoosier Tires, Carbotech Brake Pads and I/O Port Racing Supplies, this Car Domain blogger came out the winner! The Forum Wars presented by Royal Purple is featured in one minute segments on the Speed Channel, with full episodes viewable online. Check out Episode One at www.forumwars.tv.

The Forum Wars: Mustang vs. Z

By Rob Krider

Racerboy

The Forum Wars TV show puts different forums and different cars head to head in an all-out tire-smoking speed contest. The show will begin to air segments on Speed TV April 5th, along with full episodes on-line. The first episode of the show features Stangnet.com against My350Z.com. For the premier episode, I got to represent Stangnet in a 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT outfitted with Hoosier Tires, Carbotech Brake Pads and I/O Port Racing Supplies harnesses. It was a blast, but I don’t get to tell you what happens!

Check out the trailer below and check to see on April 5th who wins the match-up: Mustang or Z?

Pinewood Derby with a Twist of LeMons

By Rob Krider

Racerboy

The 24 Hours of LeMons Sears Pointless race last weekend was host to 148 teams racing $500 cars. Once the checkered flag dropped on Saturday night, then the action switched from the world famous twelve turn technical road course of Infineon Raceway to a sloped four lane wooden straight track for teams racing $5 cars –pinewood derby cars. That’s right, dad finally gets to build and race the car!

Since it was a LeMons event, cheating was actually encouraged in the derby. Check out which car won, and how they got it done at Speed:Sport:Life.

CarDomain Entry Finishes Second out of 148 at LeMons

By Rob Krider

Racerboy

The Krider Racing Big Sausage Pizza Delivery Acura Integra, sporting the CarDomain decals on the rear quarter panels, finished second overall and won the “good class” at the 24 Hours of LeMons Sears Pointless event. The team’s success was due in large part to the hard work of the Men in Black, Krider Racing’s pit crew, who had the fastest pit stops at the event. To read more on the team’s win, go to Speed:Sport:Life.
